Pottum is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . Since 1972 it has belonged to the then newly formed community of Westerburg .

Pottum is located five kilometers northeast of Westerburg am Wiesensee . The Harschbacherfeld residential area also belongs to the community .

Neighboring communities are Hellenhahn-Schellenberg , Höhn and Stahlhofen am Wiesensee .
