Nauort is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Ransbach-Baumbach community .
geography
The community is located in the Westerwald in Kannenbäckerland ; the district borders on the districts of Mayen-Koblenz and Neuwied . Neighboring towns are Caan in the north, Alsbach in the east and the Stromberg district of Bendorfer in the south. The favorable location in the middle of the castle triangle Sayn - Isenburg - Grenzau is attractive for tourists . The Augustushof, Waldfelderhof and Angushof Leutersberg residential areas also belong to Nauort .
history
The name "Nauort" developed over "Naurodt" (16th century, see " Nauroth ") from "Nuenrohde" (= new clearing ; first mentioned in 1279).
In the 20th century, alongside agriculture, the local pumice industry was a main source of income for the people of Nauort. The affiliation to the Kannenbäckerland around the important ceramics location Höhr-Grenzhausen has also benefited.

The school district of the primary school Nauort includes the local communities Alsbach, Caan, Nauort, Sessenbach and Wirscheid. The school authority is the Ransbach-Baumbach Association.
