Nauroth is a municipality in the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Betzdorf-Gebhardshain community .

Geographical location

The local community is in the immediate vicinity of Mörlen , which is already in the Westerwaldkreis . Other neighboring communities are Rosenheim in the northwest, Elkenroth in the north. The Nauberg area and the Naurother Forest rise south of the village.

history

The place name Nauroth was first mentioned in the year 1222 in the deed of foundation of the monastery Marienstatt , in which a "Henricus de Nuenrode" appeared as a witness.

On January 10, 1913, Nauroth received a rail connection coming from Scheuerfeld , which was later extended towards Emmerzhausen and the Lippe airfield . The Scheuerfeld – Emmerzhausen railway was primarily used for freight traffic and has been shut down and dismantled behind Nauroth since 1970.
