Racksen is a municipality in the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld .
Geographical location
Racksen consists of the two roughly equal districts of Racksen and Nassen. It is located about 1.5 km west of the national road 256 between Bruchertseifen and Eichelhardt and 1.5 km east of the former Franciscan monastery Marienthal .
history
In 1653 a Philipp Röder von Nassen is mentioned who leased the "Alpenroder Mühle" in Alpenrod -Hirtscheid. For a long time there has been a close cooperation with the community of Isert , with whom the two present-day districts of Racksen built a joint schoolhouse in 1860: the so-called "House in the Sun", now privately owned and used as a residential building. In 1989 the three villages again jointly built a community center.

Municipal council
The municipality council in Racksen consists of six council members who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Bernd Hommer became the local mayor of Racksen in 2009. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of the vote of 83.96%.
