history
Strickhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1432. The Ranzenmühle formerly located in Berzhausen was mentioned in 1470. In 1561 five fireplaces were opened in Berzhausen, i. H. Houses, counted.
Both places belonged to the county of Sayn-Hachenburg until 1806 , Berzhausen on the left of the Wied belonged to the parish of Schöneberg , and Strickhausen to the parish of Flammersfeld . The county of Sayn-Hachenburg fell to the princes of Nassau-Weilburg by inheritance in 1799 . In 1806 the two Nassau princes joined the Napoleonic Rhine Confederation , so that from 1806 the region belonged to the Duchy of Nassau . A participant in the Congress of Vienna made (1815) agreements, the territory of the former saynischen counties was to the Kingdom of Prussia ceded .
Under the Prussian administration, both localities were assigned to the Flammersfeld mayor in the newly established Altenkirchen district , which from 1822 belonged to the Rhine Province . In 1817 Berzhausen had 51 and Strickhausen 41 inhabitants.
In the years 1850-1852, the then Flammersfeld mayor Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen initiated the construction of the first bridge between Berzhausen and Strickhausen. The school in Strickhausen has been mentioned since 1865, the school in Berzhausen since 1870.
The previously independent community of Strickhausen was incorporated into Berzhausen on April 1, 1939.

coat of arms
The blazon reads: "Split from red and green by a twisted silver tip, inside a black mill wheel over a blue corrugated strip, in front a blue-tongued and armored golden leopard lion, in the back a silver bakehouse gable with a black door, window and framework."
The Saynic lion indicates that Berzhausen and Strickhausen belonged to the county of Sayn ; the back house ( Backes ) on green ground symbolizes the earlier importance of agriculture and forestry; the mill wheel is reminiscent of the Bannmühle for the places in the Flammersfeld parish and for the places Berzhausen and Bettgenhausen in the Schöneberg parish; the blue wavy bar indicates the Wied .
