history
Niederirsen and Ückertseifen have been part of the County of Sayn since the Middle Ages . After the introduction of the Reformation in County Sayn, the inhabitants became Lutheran and later Reformed. Ückertseifen formed a separate administrative district called “Sende” within the parish of Hamm , to which Niederirsen also belonged.
The county of Sayn-Hachenburg fell by inheritance to the Principality of Nassau-Weilburg in 1799 , which became part of the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region was ceded to the Kingdom of Prussia .
Under the Prussian administration, Niederirsen was assigned to the Hamm mayor's office in the newly established Altenkirchen district and belonged to the Koblenz administrative district in the Prussian Rhine province .

coat of arms
On November 29, 2007, the local council approved the introduction of the coat of arms. A design by Rolf-Dieter Rötzel was the basis for the coat of arms, which was examined by the Koblenz state archive in 2009 and approved by the Altenkirchen district administration. It is divided into two fields by a left-angled blue-silver wavy bar. The Irserbach water body, which characterizes the Niederirsen community, is represented by the wavy bar. In the upper coat of arms, the heraldic animal of the former County of Sayn appears as a left-turning, blue-tongued and blue-armored golden leopard lion on a red background, which holds a mill wheel and thus establishes a reference to the former mill on the Irsenbach. Two fir trees and a sheaf are embedded in the lower coat of arms up to the level of the corrugated strip. The firs symbolize the two localities Niederirsen and Ückertseifen, which belong to the local community Niederirsen, as well as the existing forests, the sheaf of agriculture.
