The Beulskopf near Beul in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Altenkirchen is 388.2  m above sea level. NHN after the high damage ( damage ; 388.3  m ) the second highest mountain of the Westerwald mountain range Leuscheid .

location

The bulging head rises in the Leuscheid, a ridge in the northwest of the Westerwald. Its summit is 5.2 km north-northwest of Altenkirchen on the watershed of the Sieg and Wied rivers . On the east to south-south-east flank lies the village of Beul , which belongs partly to Busenhausen (in the south-south-east) and partly to Heupelzen (south-south-west). To the north is Birkenbeul . The Erbach rises on the eastern flank of the mountain and the Birkenbach rises on its northern flank .

Natural allocation

The bulge head lies on the border of the natural areas Leuscheid (No. 330.00) in the north, which belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (33) and in the main unit Mitteliegbergland (330) to the subunit Southern Middle Siegbergland (330.0), and Altenkirchener plateau (324.81) in South, which in the main unit group Westerwald (32) and in the main unit Niederwesterwald (324) belongs to the subunit Asbach-Altenkirchener plateau (324.8).

Protected areas

As far as the northern flank of the Beulskopf, parts of the landscape protection area (LSG) extend to forests and open land areas at Ückerseifen / Kratzhahn ( CDDA no. 390408; 9.0627  km² ) and up to its east flank those of the LSG forests and open land areas around Marienthal (CDDA no . 390409; 22.7543 km²).

Observation tower and hiking

About 100 meters east-southeast since 1990 is on the Beulskopfgipfels 381  m height of the Raiffeisen Tower , a 34 meter high observation tower of timber (its height, according to another source with 35 indicated m). It offers a view of the Westerwald and, among others, of the Montabaurer Höhe , the Siebengebirge , the Eifel , the Bergisches Land , Wildenburger Land , Rothaargebirge and Giebelwald as well as the Siegerland .

The Kölnerweg , the Sieghöhenweg and the Westerwald-Steig cross on the mountain .
