Altenkirchen plateau

The Altenkirchen plateau is a landscape area in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate and south-east of North Rhine-Westphalia . Together with the Asbach plateau in the west , it forms the lowest, northwestern floor of the Westerwald , the Asbach-Altenkirchen plateau . It is a flat hilly to undulating high trough located at an altitude of around 280-330 meters , which is naturally assigned to the Niederwesterwald with unit 324.81. It has an extension of about 205 km 2 .

The area drains towards the Wied . The Irsenbach , which flows to Sieg , is an exception . The main town is the district town of Altenkirchen . Other communities include Weyerbusch , Neitersen , Berod near Hachenburg , Höchstenbach and Seelbach .
