The Asbach plateau is a natural area in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate and in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia . It is located near Asbach in the northwest of the Westerwald at an average altitude of about 280  m above sea level. NHN and belongs to the natural spatial main unit Niederwesterwald . The plateau has an extension of about 150 km 2 .

The Asbach plateau is part of a high trough, which it forms together with the Altenkirchen plateau to the east as the Asbach-Altenkirchener plateau ( Niederwesterwälder high trough ) and which rises significantly at the southern and eastern border and slightly at the western transition to the Rheinwesterwälder volcanic ridge. Parts of the plateau are cut up by side valleys of the Wied , which delimit the landscape to the south. To the northwest it merges smoothly into the Pleiser hill country . The valley shapes on the Asbach plateau alternate between Riedel , Kasten and Mulden . Located on and near the watershed of Wied and Sieg , the landscape includes its tributaries Hanfbach , Pfaffenbach , Wahler Bach and Mehrbach . Isolated volcanic elevations, including the highest Dachsberg ( 362.2  m above sea level ), enliven the landscape as singular phenomena. The landscape, including its vegetation , is partly shaped by the remains of mining, especially basalt and quartzite mining.

The landscape includes u. a. Areas of the following cities and communities: Asbach, Bad Honnef ( Aegidienberg district ), Buchholz , Ersfeld , Giershausen , Königswinter (especially Oberhau ), Neustadt (Wied) , Orfgen , Vettelschoss and Windhagen .
