Ingelbach is a municipality in the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld . The community is divided into the districts Niederingelbach and Oberingelbach.
Geographical location
Ingelbach is about four kilometers east of Altenkirchen , not far from the meeting point of state roads 265, 290 and federal road 414. Meadows and mixed forest surround the local community. The Wied , which reaches its northernmost point at Niederingelbach, flows southwest along the settlement.
history
Ingelbach was first mentioned in 1262 in a document from the Cistercian monastery of Marienstatt . A mayor Konrad von Ingelbach ( Ingellenbach or Ingillinbach ) is listed as a witness to a donation from Count Gottfried von Sayn to the Marienstatt monastery. The knowledge of this document goes back to Wolf-Heino Struck , who in 1965 transferred all Marienstatter documents for book printing in a document book . In Struck's work “The Cistercian Monastery of Marienstatt in the Middle Ages. Urkundenregesten, goods directories and Nekrolog "(Wiesbaden 1953) is the parchment document on page 28 under the number 59 edited printed. The certificate is kept in the Hessian Main State Archive Wiesbaden under the signature department 74, no. 46.
The seal of a Thele von Ingelbach was on a document from 1362 . A Gerhard von Ingelbach was the town scholar in Hachenburg from 1355 to 1372 . The seal of a Godart von Ingelbach hung on a document from the Marienstatt Abbey from 1428 .
Ingelbach and its districts belonged to the county of Sayn . After the introduction of the Reformation in the county of Sayn, the inhabitants were first Lutheran and later reformed . After the state division of the County of Sayn in the 17th century, Ingelbach was part of the County of Sayn-Altenkirchen .
The municipality of Oberingelbach was incorporated into the municipality of Niederingelbach on April 1, 1939. The united community was named Ingelbach in 1950 .
In memory of Jewish fellow citizens - four members of the Veit family - who lived in Ingelbach and who were deported during the National Socialist era , four inscribed brass plates were laid near the old school as part of the Stolpersteine artistic project .

Municipal council
The council in Ingelbach consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Dirk Vohl became mayor of Ingelbach in summer 2014. Elected for the first time in the direct election on May 25, 2014, he was confirmed in his post on May 26, 2019 with a share of the vote of 76.55% for another five years. Dirk Vohl's predecessor was Jürgen Janke, who held the office for ten years.

Ingelbach has a train station on the Oberwesterwaldbahn railway line . Here the trains of the regional railway line 90 (Westerwald-Sieg-Bahn) ( Limburg an der Lahn - Diez Ost - Westerburg - Hachenburg - Altenkirchen - Au (Sieg) - Kirchen (Sieg) - Siegen - Kreuztal ) of the Hessian state railway , area Dreiländerbahn to the Rheinland-Pfalz-Takt on behalf of the Zweckverband SPNV Nord daily every hour. Trivia
Ingelbach served as the setting for Isabel Abedi's youth novel whisper . In the book there are some localities in Ingelbach, such as B. the old train station or the small restaurants. The old half-timbered houses, like that of the farmer Hallenscheidt, to which the novel refers, are actually in the place.
