The municipality is located on a high terrace above the Nistertal between Altenkirchen and Hamm an der Sieg in the catchment area of Kroppacher Switzerland . In the north lies the hamlet of Alhausen, in the east Stein-Wingert , in the south Giesenhausen and in the west Eichelhardt .
history
A precise founding period for Idelberg is unknown, but it is assumed that the district has been settled for around 1000 years. There is documentary evidence in 1461 of a hen from Idelberg who worked as a judge and mayor in Altenkirchen .
The place has belonged to the parish of Altenkirchen since known times and thus, over the centuries, belonged to different rulers: The Counts of Sayn from around the 12th century to 1652, then the Dukes of Saxony-Eisenach and from 1741 the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach until this county fell to the King of Prussia in 1792 . Since 1803 the region belonged to the Principality of Nassau-Usingen , 1806 to the Duchy of Nassau , until it became part of the Prussian Province of Lower Rhine in 1815 and to the Rhine Province in 1822 . From 1816 on, Idelberg was administered by the Altenkirchen mayor .
After the introduction of the Reformation in the county of Sayn, the inhabitants were first Lutheran and later reformed . In 1787 there were nine houses in Idelberg, to which the shares of a forest interest group , which originated at the beginning of the 18th century, go back.
