It has been used to varying degrees since then, decommissioned in 1891 and reopened in 1899. The mine was finally shut down in 1937; with a depth of 1,025 meters and almost 600 employees, it was one of the most important ore mines in the Altenkirchen district.

Eichelhardt belonged country wonderfully to Sayn . After the introduction of the Reformation in the county of Sayn, the inhabitants were first Lutheran and later reformed . Within the county, Eichelhardt belonged to the parish of Altenkirchen, which also represented a secular administrative unit and exercised lower jurisdiction . In 1787, 19 households were counted in Eichelhardt.

In 1803, the county and thus Eichelhardt was awarded to the Principality of Nassau-Usingen in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , which became part of the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 . As a result of the resolutions passed at the Congress of Vienna (1815) and a treaty concluded between Nassau and Prussia, the two formerly Saynian counties were ceded to the Kingdom of Prussia .
