history
The place was shaped by mining for a long time . At the site of the Petersbach mine, mining has been proven for the period before 1674 and again in 1770. It has been used to varying degrees since then, decommissioned in 1891 and reopened in 1899. The mine was finally shut down in 1937; with a depth of 1,025 meters and almost 600 employees, it was one of the most important ore mines in the Altenkirchen district.
Eichelhardt belonged country wonderfully to Sayn . After the introduction of the Reformation in the county of Sayn, the inhabitants were first Lutheran and later reformed . After the division of the County of Sayn in the 17th century, Eichelhardt was part of the County of Sayn-Altenkirchen . Within the county, Eichelhardt belonged to the parish of Altenkirchen, which also represented a secular administrative unit and exercised lower jurisdiction . In 1787, 19 households were counted in Eichelhardt.
In 1803, the county and thus Eichelhardt was awarded to the Principality of Nassau-Usingen in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , which became part of the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 . As a result of the resolutions passed at the Congress of Vienna (1815) and a treaty concluded between Nassau and Prussia, the two formerly Saynian counties were ceded to the Kingdom of Prussia .
Under the Prussian administration, Eichelhardt belonged to the Altenkirchen mayor in the district of the same name that was newly formed in 1816 in the administrative district of Koblenz , which belonged to the Rhine province from 1822 onwards.
