Harbach is a municipality in the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Kirchen (Sieg) .
geography
Harbach is a place in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located in the border region between Westerwald , Siegerland and Wildenburgische Land . The place lies in two valleys and is divided into three districts: Locherhof (through which the Löcherbach flows), Hinhausen (through which the Hinhausenerbach flows) and Harbach (where the brooks unite).

The community is divided into the three districts of Harbach, Hinhausen and Locherhof.
history
In 1235 a place Hunhausen (Hinhausen) was first mentioned in a document; 1520 was the first documentary mention of Harbach. In 1587, 9 fireplaces were already counted in Harbach; In 1787 there were 21 households with 186 inhabitants in the village. In 1815 it had 233 inhabitants, Harbach becomes "Prussian"; In 1822 a school was built in Harbach; Another school was built in Hinhausen in 1907. In 1953 the Catholic Church was consecrated. On June 7, 1969, the district of Oberasdorf with 124 inhabitants was re-municipalityed to Niederfischbach. For a long time agriculture paired with the hauberg economy was the main source of income for the villagers. Mining was added in later years. Today only a few people work in the village.
