coat of arms

Rettersen coat of arms
Blazon : "Red divided by a silver oblique left bar, in front a blue armored and tongued golden leoparded lion turned left, behind a golden oak branch with four infructescences and four leaves."
Justification for the coat of arms: The lion indicates that it belonged to the county of Sayn , the bar symbolizes the old military and trade route that led through the town. The oak branch symbolizes the four districts and indicates the abundance of forests.

Others

It is worth noting that the districts are supplied with drinking water differently. The districts of Hahn and Witthecke are supplied with water from the Biggesee by the Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld community . The district of Rettersen, on the other hand, has its own independent water supply from a spring in the forest. This water is so pure that it does not have to be disinfected with chlorine or ozone .

The Retterserbach , which is called Scherenbach in its upper reaches and Peschbach near Ersfeld, flows through the village .
