Hasselbach is a municipality in the Altenkirchen (Westerwald) district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld .
Geographical location
The place is near the state border to North Rhine-Westphalia , about two kilometers west of Weyerbusch on the federal road 8 to Kircheib .
Other neighboring communities are Werkhausen in the north, Forstmehren in the south and Rettersen in the west. The Mehrbach , Hasselbach and Leinger Bach flow through the district of Hasselbach .
history
A first written reference was told the place Hasselbach in 1262, as a Ludwig von Hasselbach, which at that time Asilbach was written when Schultheiss an agreement of Count Johann von Sayn with the abbot of the abbey Marienstatt signed. In the Middle Ages the community still consisted of Nieder- and Oberhasselbach. In 1578, 18 fireplaces (“smoking” = households) were registered; In 1667 there were only 11 fireplaces, in 1772 there were 16 again.

Attractions
- The sculpture park in the valley , located between Hasselbach and Werkhausen . The over 10 hectare landscape area is an initiative of the sculptor Erwin Wortelkamp and was designed by more than 50 artists, landscape architects, sculptors, writers and musicians. It shows sculptures and offers artistic lingering places in the middle of the Westerwald valley landscape.
- The deposit in Weyerbusch . Since its inauguration in 2009, exhibitions and concerts have been held in the rooms designed as Schaulager for the Wortelkamp Foundation. In 2011 the building designed by the Leipzig architects quartier vier was awarded 1st prize in the Rhineland-Palatinate Architecture Prize.
