The pit was first mentioned in 1674. Lead and copper ores were mined in the 17th century . In 1770 the mining rights were newly granted, this time to the extraction of iron , lead, copper, zinc , antimony and nickel ores . Up until 1823, various trades were involved in mining. In 1828 the Dresler company bought the mine in Siegen . In 1839 a deep tunnel was built . No ore was mined between 1891 and 1899. From 1903 there was a cable car to the Alfredhütte in Wissen . In 1926 the mine came into the possession of Phönix AG . On February 28, 1937, the mine was shut down due to exhaustion of the ore deposits. The headframe of shaft I went to the Rasselskaute mine in 1940 . At the best of times, just under 600 staff members worked in the mine.
Civil engineering
Civil engineering began in 1864, when the "New Shaft" was built. This reached a depth of 820 m. Shaft II was built from 1874. It served as a weather shaft. Shaft III was built in 1898. It was in operation from 1903. A total of five blind shafts led to a total depth of 1025 m.
Delivery rates
In 1884 a little more than 4 tons of nickel ore were mined (nickel pebbles and nickel antimony shine). The total amount of iron ore extracted was 2.8 million t.
