Aage Tanggaard
Aage Tanggaard (born February 25, 1957 ) is a Danish jazz drummer.
The student of Ed Thigpen and Michael Carvin played in the 1970s with various Danish bands and as a companion to guest jazz musicians from abroad. Since the late 1970s he has been active as a freelancer and member of various radio jazz bands such as Ernie Wilkins Almost BigBand , the trios of Finn Savery and Thomas Clausen and the Arne Domnérus - Rune Gustafsson -Kvintet and performed with the NDR Bigband in Hamburg and with Chet Baker and the NDR radio orchestra in Hanover. In 1985 he received the JASA prizes from the Danish Jazz Critics.
He toured Europe and Japan with the Duke Jordan Trio . In the late 1980s he was a member of Pierre Dørges New Jungle Orchestra . In the 1990s he worked regularly with the Svend Asmussen Kvintet .
Tanggaard u. a. with Roland Hanna , Lee Konitz , Paul Bley , Herb Geller , Dexter Gordon , Clark Terry , Thad Jones , Kenny Drew , Sonny Stitt , Toots Thielemans , John Lewis , Kai Winding , Roy Eldridge , Johnny Griffin and Stan Getz . He teaches at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.
