Isabel Abedi

Isabel Nasrin Abedi (born March 3, 1967 in Munich ) is a German children's and youth author.

Life

Isabel Abedi was born in Munich in 1967 and grew up in Düsseldorf . After graduating from high school, she went to Los Angeles to do an internship in film production . She came back to Germany, where she trained as a copywriter in Hamburg .

She worked in this profession for thirteen years and also wrote books for children and young people. She is now a full-time writer and works as a freelance writer for several publishers. Isabel Abedi lives in Hamburg with her husband and two daughters .

Her books appear in several languages ​​and have already received several awards. Her children's book series Lola developed into a great success . And she also became known for her children's novels Unter der Geisterbahn and Forbidden World . Abedi's youth novel Whisper was nominated by the youth jury for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2006. In addition, the novel received several regional awards and was on the list of “The best 7 books for young readers” by Deutschlandfunk and Focus . Abedi's youth novel Isola , in which 12 young people on a camera-monitored island are the subject of a film project, has also been nominated several times - for the Hans-Jörg-Martin Children's and Young People's Crime Prize 2008 - and awarded.

Many of her works have meanwhile been published as audio books and some made it onto the hr2 audio book best list ( Lola hit the headlines in March 2006, Lucian in March 2010).
