Audiobooks leaderboard

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hr2 audio book best list is an initiative of the culture section of hr2 and the Börsenblatt for the German book trade . It has been published since May 1997 in cooperation with the book journal and Hits für Kids and published monthly; Another cooperation partner is the online edition Chrismon + from Chrismon . The hr2 audio book best list is intended to help facilitate access to particularly successful productions in the confusing market for audio books . New publications for adults as well as for children and adolescents are assessed. On the basis of the 12 monthly best lists, two audio books of the year are awarded, one for the target group adults and - since 1998 - one for children and young people.

In competition with the audio books of the year , the West German Broadcasting Corporation has awarded the German Audio Book Prize since 2003 .

Selection process

The audio book best lists are drawn up by two independent juries. The jurors include critics from the major German-language newspapers and magazines, writers and other personalities in cultural life. Members of the jury for the adult audio book list are a total of 11 people: Hans Altenhain , Dieterschlag , Jens Bisky , Helmut Böttiger , Michael Cerha , Franz-Josef Görtz , Volker Hage , Hauke Hückstädt , Elmar Krekeler , Felicitas von Lovenberg and Wolfgang Werth . The jury for children's and young people's audio books consists of eight people: Roswitha Budeus-Budde , Hans-Heino Ewers , Paul Maar , Dietmut Roether , Jan-Uwe Rogge , Regine Rogge , Monika Steinkopf and Monika Trapp . The audiobook publishers provide each member of the jury with a selection of their new releases and their entire new productions; In addition to fiction productions, publications from the cabaret genre and non-fiction titles are also taken into account .

Once a month the juries select five productions for adults and three productions for children and young people from the new releases that they consider particularly worth listening to. All jurors receive a copy of each production, which they can rate with 0 to 10 points (or 0 to 6 points for audio books for children and young people). Titles with the highest score then appear on the monthly list. In addition, one of the jurors gives a “personal tip” every month, which is also included in the list.

publication

The hr2 audio book best list is attached to the Börsenblatt as a poster - for posting in bookstores - and is sent to the press and other institutions. It will also be published on the hr2 website with additional information. You can find out what the recommended audio books are about, who is talking about them, and you can get a first impression of the productions from an audio sample. If the current tips are not enough for you, you can search through the audio book best lists for the previous 12 months for further recommendations.

The list of children and young people is recommended by the Federal Testing Office for writings that are harmful to minors.
