Deesen is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Ransbach-Baumbach community .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Siegen on the edge of the Rhine-Westerwald nature park . The Saynbach , which belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Rhine , flows through the municipality.

history

Old school

The village was first mentioned in 1218 as Desene , when Burgrave Heinrich von Isenburg gave the Rommersdorf Abbey a light interest . In 1271 the Rommersdorf Abbey sold various goods to Hermann von Desene in Deesen. In 1531 the Mant von Limbach had a farm in Deesen. It was in Isenburg until 1664, then in Electorate of Trier , from 1803 on in Nassau . In 1866 the village became part of Prussia . The customs and ban inn in the Deesen district is mentioned in 1667 and 1723. The old school is a listed building .
