history

Hübingen was first mentioned in 1347 in a feudal contract for a homestead in Horhausen , which was concluded on August 19, 1347 between the married couple Friedrich and Aleydt von Hübingen and the abbot of the Arnstein monastery , Wilhelm and his convent.

Economically significant in 1786 were a silver mining site, which geologically belonged to a larger mining area in the Gackenbach area, and two slate quarries. coat of arms

Huebingen coat of arms
Blazon : "Split of silver and green, in front a red sheaf, accompanied by a red linden branch, above a red wavy bar, behind a turned golden linden branch, accompanied by a golden chaffinch , above a golden wavy bar."
Justification of the coat of arms: The two branches of the linden tree indicate the patron saint of the community, St. Wendelinus . The sheaf symbolizes agriculture. In the lower part, the halved wavy bar represents the Gelbach and Hohentalbach brooks flowing in the Hubingen district and framing the town . The colors white and red indicate that Huebingen was part of Kurtrier for almost 800 years . The green relates to the abundance of forests in the municipality and the chaffinch to the chaffinch country , as the region around the municipalities of Hübingen, Gackenbach and Horbach is called.
