Heraldic pattern: divided in a wave cut

The wave cut is a heraldic coat of arms cut in wave form. It serves to design the boundary lines of shield divisions , both the basic and the finer structure of the tinging (coloring).

Presentation and meaning

The wave cut is partly without independent meaning, but often in relation to water. Corrugated beams or piles are emblazoned as a river and represent important bodies of water for the guide of the coat of arms. Areas divided by several wave cuts then represent a water surface. The cut then takes on the function of a herald's image . Then elements are often tinged with blue and / or silver.

Formations are the sea wave cut with pointed swell (also corresponds to a thorn cut ), wave cut with overturning waves, and the cloud cut with disc-shaped bulges (which is emblazoned as a feh in German heraldry ), and the double cloud cut (almost heart-shaped). Also edge- / dental section-like forms occur, but are always rounded.
