history

In a document from 1344, according to which Count Wilhelm I von Wied and Isenburg (1324-1383) sold his possessions in the Dierdorfer Land to the Trier Archbishop and Elector Baldwin of Luxembourg , the place is called "Wynden". The word is apparently related to the " turns ". In a document from 1401 it says "Weenden" and in the wisdom of the Hubengericht zu Brückrachdorf from 1570 "Wenden". The name suggests a possible foundation in the Carolingian period, when Slavic Wends were settled in other parts of the empire as serfs .
