Julie Bertuccelli
Julie Bertuccelli (born February 12, 1968 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) is a French film director who is mainly active in the documentary field.
Life
Bertuccelli is the daughter of artist Caroline Corre, director of the Center Artistique de Verderonne, and film director Jean-Louis Bertuccelli . After finishing school, she first studied philosophy and photography and then trained as a documentary filmmaker in the Varan studio in Paris.
From 1991 Bertuccelli worked as an assistant director, her first film being Benjamin in 1991, directed by her father. In the following years she worked with Krzysztof Kieślowski ( Drei Farben: Blau , 1993), Bertrand Tavernier ( Der Decoy , 1995) and Otar Iosseliani ( Briganten , 1996), among others . Bertuccelli made her first documentaries from 1993 ( Un métier comme un autre ), where she published not only films for television but also feature documentaries. In 2006 she portrayed Otar Iosseliani ( Otar Iosseliani, le merle siffleur ) for the series Cinéastes de notre temps .
With Since Otar Left ... appeared in 2003 her first feature film as director. The drama, which premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2003 , was awarded the César for Best First Work. Her second feature film, The Tree , was shown in 2010 as the closing film of the Cannes International Film Festival .
