The Syndicat Français de la Critique de Cinéma et des Films de Télévision (until 2004 Syndicat Français de la Critique de Cinéma - SFCC ) represents the interests of French journalists and writers from the film and television industry.

History and work

The association was founded on March 9, 1947 as the Association Française de la Critique de Cinéma (AFCC). In 1981 it was converted into a professional association and from then on appeared under the new name Syndicat Français de la Critique de Cinéma (SFCC). In recognition of the work of members from the television industry, the name was officially renamed Syndicat Français de la Critique de Cinéma et des Films de Télévision in 2004 , although the organization is still known today by its abbreviated name. The association is based in Paris . The current president is Jean-Jacques Bernard.

The aim of the SFCC is to represent the professional interests of its members, to advocate freedom of criticism and information and filmmaking. With more than 260 members, it also functions as the national section of the international film journalists' association Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (FIPRESCI). In cooperation with FIPRESCI, the SFCC sends journalists to juries at international film festivals . In France, the association sends members to juries at the Arras , Biarritz , Poitiers , Toulouse and Trouville film festivals .
