Jean-Louis Bertuccelli (* 3. June 1942 in the 16th arrondissement in Paris ; † 6. March 2014 ) was a French film director and screenwriter .

life and work

Jean-Louis Bertuccelli studied piano and film. In 1965 he started working as a sound engineer . After several short films, he made the film Walls of Clay in 1969 , which is set in a village on the edge of the Sahara . Jean-Louis Trintignant took on the lead role. In 1971 Bertuccelli received the Prix ​​Jean Vigo for the 83-minute film ; it was shown at documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977 . Bertuccelli filmed the historical novel Paulina 1880 by Pierre Jean Jouve in 1972. Dr. med. Françoise Gailland from 1976 with Annie Girardot in the leading role and Jean-Pierre Cassel , François Périer and Isabelle Huppert in supporting roles, was awarded several prizes. Bertuccelli directed The Prosecutor in 1977 with several well-known actors, including Michel Piccoli . Giulietta Masina starred in Benjamin from 1991 . Bertuccelli later made various films for television. He is the father of Julie Bertuccelli (* 1968).
