Dragons - A Gift of Nightshade (Original title: Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury ) is an American short film by DreamWorks SKG , which is based on the film How to Train Your Dragon and was released in 2011 as a Christmas edition. The events take place one year after the first film.

action

The film begins with the chief's son Hicks talking about the holidays and observing the preparations for the holidays in his village of Berks. Then you see Hicks for the first time lying in bed and being woken up by his dragon Toothless, who is jumping around on the roof of the house, and they set off together for the daily "flight lesson".

The village is shown again in its preparations for the festival when suddenly a herd of kites appears, which the kites of the village join and fly away. Toothless, who cannot fly without a rider, cannot come with and stays in Berk. Hicks injured this situation, so that toothless he built a tail prosthesis with which he could fly himself. When the kite finds out, it flies away immediately, apparently following the other kites. Hicks is totally amazed and sad about it. All of Berk misses the dragons (which is why Astrid invents a rather “interesting” tasting drink), only whalebone is in a good mood. Hicks secretly follows him, and discovers that Fischbein had locked his dragon meatball in so that it would not fly away. Hicks accidentally frees the kite and becomes an involuntary passenger. Meatball flies the same route that the other dragons flew, and Hicks witnesses something unbelievable: a paradise island where all dragons have gathered to give birth to their children in peace. Hicks finds the dragons of his friends from Berk, but no Toothless. While exploring the island, however, he also notices that the dragon eggs explode when the babies hatch, which is one of the other reasons that the dragons retreat.
