How to Train Your Dragon 2

Train Your Dragon 3: The Secret World (Original title: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World ) is an American animated family film in 3D from DreamWorks Animation from the year 2019. The film, the sequel made easy to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014 ) and is also loosely based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell .

action

A year after the events of the previous film, the Viking Hicks and his friend, the Nightshade Toothless, continue to rescue trapped dragons from dragon hunter cages with their friends and fellow dragon mates to take them to Berk, where a busy world has developed, where dragons and humans live together. However, the constant release of new dragons has also resulted in the island becoming heavily overpopulated by dragons. In response to this overcrowding, Hicks wants to find the "Secret World," a safe haven for dragons that his late father, Haudrauf, told him about.

In the meantime, a white shadow dragon captured by warlords (called "day shadow" by Astrid) is given as bait to the notorious dragon slayer Grimmel, so that he can capture Toothless for the warlords' use as an alpha dragon.

After Grimmel has intimidated Hicks with the help of his acid-spitting dragons, Hicks convinces the residents of Berk to leave their homeland and seek the secret world of dragons in order to live there in peace and quiet. Meanwhile, Grimmel enjoys the challenge of the hunt and sends the day shade out to distract Toothless. As the two dragons approach each other, Hick's mother discovers that Grimmel is chasing them with ships and cages. Hicks now wants to attack Grimmel, but runs straight into the trap. You can escape Cloud Jumper with the help of Valka's dragon, but Ruffnut accidentally stays behind.

Meanwhile, Hicks and Astrid are looking for Toothless and discover the secret world of dragons, in which Toothless is currently recognized by the dragons as alpha. When Astrid and Hicks are discovered, Toothless decides to save Hicks and leave the secret world with him. After they are back on the island to which the residents of Berks have withdrawn, Ruffnut appears, but Grimmel pursues her. This stuns day shade and toothless and kidnaps them. By threatening Dayshade, he forces Toothless to obey him.

Astrid rebuilds the discouraged Hicks, who now sets out with his friends and the flight outfits to save Toothless from Grimmel. The attack succeeds, but Grimmel can flee to Tagschatten, which he has made submissive with the poison of his dragons. Hicks pursues them, kills Grimmel and saves Tagschatten, who then saves him too.

Hicks, who has already built a tail replacement that works by itself, releases Toothless - the other dragon riders follow his example, so that all dragons follow Toothless into the secret world.

In the winter, Astrid and Hicks finally get married, with the Vikings evidently making their home on the new island. At the end you see an older Hicks with his wife Astrid and two children, who tells them about the different dragons. Shortly afterwards, Toothless shows up with his family and Hicks flies with Astrid and their children on Toothless and Storm Arrow, while Hicks tells off-screen that they will guard the secret of the dragons' existence until the people are mature enough to be peaceful with the dragons to live.

How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Secret World brings the saga to a visually overwhelming and emotionally touching conclusion. "

Felix Bartels recognizes a social character in the relationship between Vikings and dragons in New Germany and in the film series “a short history of bourgeois society, interpreted by itself”. The first film in the series is comparable to the Original Accumulation , because the dragons, which were previously still free, are "captured and ... domesticated". In the second film, “the victory over the alpha dragon could be interpreted as a victory against the socialism that emerged from the labor movement ”. In the third part express "Hicks' search for a secret place for his life model ... the insecurity of capitalism in itself", the dissolution of which happens through "the release of the dragon without a change of power, from the free insight of the oppressors".
