action

In the Chinese spirit world, Grand Master Oogway fights against Kai, who has stolen his Ch'i . Grandmaster Oogway warns Kai that Po, the dragon warrior, will stop him. Kai ignores the warning and returns to the mortal world with the help of the Ch'is of Oogway and other defeated masters from the spirit world.

In the Mortal World: Shortly after the events of the first two films, Master Shifu Po announces that he has taught him everything he knows and wants Po to take on the role of Master as the Dragon Warrior, as that is his destiny . Po quickly realizes that it is very difficult to teach Kung Fu when the Furious Five (Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey) are very ailing as a result of his first training. Po loses the courage to continue and does not believe in his ability to be a master and teacher, but Shifu advises him to be himself.

Po tries to clear his head at home while taking a bath. A panda named Li Shan appears in Mr. Ping's noodle restaurant who breaks Pos's dumpling record. Both quickly discover that Li Shan Po's biological father is and quickly find each other because of many similarities, which triggers jealousy in Mr. Ping. Po learns that he is not the last panda, but that there is a hidden village full of pandas in the mountains. When Mr. Ping accuses Li Shan of not being there for the past 20 years, he says that he only found out about his missing son through a message from the universe.

After showing the Jade Palace to Li Shan, he introduces his father to Shifu and the Furious Five. The meeting, however, is interrupted when the Valley of Peace is attacked. They are the green jade Ch'is of former kung fu masters from the spirit world under the control of Kai. Po and Monkey call the attackers jombies - an abbreviation for jade zombies. After the attack is canceled by Kai after a threat, Shifu, Po and the five look in the scrolls for answers.

They find out through a scroll that Kai was Oogway's best friend 500 years ago and that they fought side by side in battles. After Oogway was badly injured in a battle, Kai took him to a secret panda village in the mountains, where the pandas healed him using their ch'i skills. Oogway learned from the pandas to use the power of the Ch'i, but Kai became greedy and wanted to use the Ch'i solely to increase his power. Oogway wanted to prevent him and stood in Kai's way. Oogway defeated Kai in battle and banished him to the spirit world as punishment.

The scroll says that Kai can only be defeated by a master of the true Ch'is. But Po doesn't have a command of Ch'i, which is why Li Shan suggests that Po come along and Li teach him in the panda village. Po then travels to the hidden panda village with Li Shan and Mr. Ping, while Shifu and the Furious Five stay behind to monitor Kai's movements and defend the Jade Palace.

After they have been warmly welcomed in the village, Po is impatient to learn how to use the Ch'i, but Li Shan shows him that he must first learn what it means to be a panda. Po quickly finds pleasure in the customs and way of life of the pandas and is happy to have finally got to know this previously unknown part of his panda life.

Meanwhile, the Mantis and Crane sent by Master Shifu to monitor them are defeated by Kai along with three other Masters (Bear, Crocodile & Chicken) and robbed of their Ch'is. Messages gradually arrive at the Jade Palace, reporting the disappearance of all Kung Fu masters throughout the Chinese Empire. Kai attacks the Jade Palace and cannot be stopped by the remaining fighters, Shifu, Tigress, Monkey and Viper. Kai defeats her, takes her Ch'i and destroys the Jade Palace with a statue of Oogway, only Tigress flees on Shifu's orders. Finally Tigress reaches the village to warn Po of the coming danger. Fearful, Li Shan and the pandas prepare to run away. When Po asks his father to finally teach him to use the Ch'i, he explains that he cannot master the Ch'i because the pandas have forgotten the technique. All Li Shan wanted was to save Po from Kai's anger. Injured by his father's lie, Po isolates himself and trains heavily on a training figure from Kai in order to be able to take on him. Mr. Ping comforts Li and admits that he was initially concerned that Li would take Po away from him, but has now come to the realization that Li is just another part of Po’s happiness and that they are both at Po’s side as his family should stand.

Tigress explains to Po that it is impossible to defeat Kai without having mastered the Ch'i. In the meantime, he confesses that this experience has once again made him doubt his potential. Li and the residents, who have decided to stay, ask Po if he can train them so they can fight too. Po remembers Shifu's words that he has to be himself in order to become himself and agrees. He uses the pandas' abilities and way of life to turn them into fighters and forges a plan to protect the village. When Kai arrives, he sends his lackeys to catch Po, but the other pandas and Tigress keep them in check to distract Kai from Po sneaking up on Kai unnoticed. The plan works, but when Po tries to use the wuxi finger grip on Kai, Kai reveals that this grip does not work on the immortals from the spirit world. Kai wins the upper hand in their duel, but before Kai can take his ch'i as announced, Po uses the wuxi finger grip on himself, so that he is sent into the spirit world together with Kai, while he is holding Kai . They keep fighting, and Po is clearly inferior to Kai, so Kai ties Po with his chains and slowly transforms him into jade to take his Ch'i away. In the mortal world, only a yin-yang circle of flowers has remained and the pandas around Shan Li, as well as Mr. Ping and Tigress want to help Po. Li Shan remembers that they learned who they are from Po and gathers the others around the circle. Through the power of what they have become through Po and have gained through it, they can use their Ch'i and send it Po into the spirit world. With this additional Ch'i, Po can stop the transformation and is now able to control the Ch'i. Through the power of Ch'i he creates a dragon that surrounds him completely and with which he can fight Kai. Po transmits the entire ch'i of the kite to Kai, which is so overwhelming that he loses control. In this way the ch'i of all persons defeated by it is freed and they can return to the world of the living.

Only Po does not return. Grandmaster Oogway appears to him in a golden river in the spirit world. He reveals that he chose him to be the dragon warrior because he is the embodiment of yin-yang . Because of his origins and his abilities, he is the one who keeps the world in balance. He also explains that he was the one who told Li that Po was still alive. Oogway expresses his admiration for Po how much he has grown up and become what he was always meant to be. Oogway gives him his staff as a token of his favor. When Oogway gives him the choice of staying in the spirit world or returning to the mortal world, Po uses the staff to return to the mortal world. Glad to have found his destiny, he returns to the Jade Palace with the pandas, the returned Kung Fu masters and Mr. Ping, where Po proudly celebrates everyone, including the villagers, in the art of Ch 'i use instruction.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is the sequel to the movie Kung Fu Panda 2 from 2011 and continues Kung Fu Panda from 2008.

Emergence

In 2010, Jeffrey Katzenberg of DreamWorks Animation announced that the Kung Fu Panda franchise would include a total of six films. After Kung Fu Panda 2 was released in 2011 , Jack Black spoke about another sequel for the first time in April 2012 . The third part was confirmed in July 2012 by Bill Damaschke .

The film was created as a co-production between DreamWorks Animation and Oriental DreamWorks from Shanghai (founded in 2012 as a joint project by DreamWorks and Chinese companies). A third of the film was made in China, the rest in the USA. It was the first major animated film from the United States to be co-produced by the Chinese. The film team worked closely with the responsible government agencies for the release in China. The Chinese co-production circumvented the strict Chinese import quotas and was able to achieve a larger share of the revenue than imported films. A special feature of the animation was that the lip movements of the characters were not only adapted to the dialogues in the English version, but also in the Chinese version.

Cast and crew

The team from the second film returned for Kung Fu Panda 3 , including director Jennifer Yuh Nelson , producer Melissa Cobb, screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, and Guillermo del Toro as executive producer. In February 2015, at her personal request, Nelson was appointed second director to Alessandro Carloni . Carloni was already involved in two previous films ( animation supervisor and story artist ).

After Rebel Wilson , Bryan Cranston and Mads Mikkelsen had been announced as new speakers on April 9, 2013 , it was announced in April 2015 that JK Simmons had taken over Mikkelsen's role. Likewise, Wilson was later replaced by Kate Hudson .

On July 25, 2014, Hans Zimmer's return as a film composer was confirmed. John Powell , who had contributed the music to the first two parts together with Zimmer, was no longer involved in the third film. Well-known Asian musicians such as pianist Lang Lang , cellist Jian Wang and pop singers Jay Chou and Patrick Brasca were involved in the recording of the soundtrack . The soundtrack album was released on January 22, 2016. The British band The Vamps had recorded a cover version of Kung Fu Fighting , the Chinese singer Luhan the song Deep .

synchronization

As with the first two parts, the synchronization was carried out by Berliner Synchron GmbH Wenzel Lüdecke , Tobias Meister was responsible for the dubbing and dialogue direction.
