Jennifer Yuh Nelson (born June 13, 1972 in South Korea ) is a South Korean -American film director who created the animated film Kung Fu Panda 2 in 2011 , the box office of which was Phyllida Lloyd's Mamma Mia! surpassed it, making it the most successful woman-made film of all time. He was also nominated for an Oscar (best cartoon) .

Life

Yuh Nelson was born in South Korea in 1972 with the surname Yuh, and her parents immigrated to California in the United States when she was four. She emulated her big sisters and did her Bachelor of Fine Arts at California State University, Long Beach , then she worked first for Jetlag Productions, then for the HBO series Spawn . In 1998 she went to Dreamworks and worked on Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron , Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas , Madagascar and the first part of Kung Fu Panda , for which she received her first Annie Award . Studio boss Jeffrey Katzenberg then entrusted her to direct the sequel, her first film. She also directed the Kung Fu Panda 3 section , which was co-produced with a Chinese company .
