Jay Baruchel
Jonathan "Jay" Adam Saunders Baruchel (born April 9, 1982 in Ottawa , Canada ) is a Canadian film actor , filmmaker and musician .
Life
Jay Baruchel was born to Serge Baruchel, an antique dealer, and Robyne Baruchel, a writer in Ottawa; he has a younger sister, Taylor. While his father is the denomination of Jew is his mother is one of Ireland Dating Catholic . Jay himself was raised in the Jewish faith.
Baruchel himself has been in front of the camera since he was 13 years old; made his acting debut in 1995 in the Canadian television series Are You Afraid of the Dark? . Between 1997 and 1998 he also hosted the children's television program Popular Mechanics for Kids alongside Elisha Cuthbert .
Baruchel attended the same high school in the Montreal district of Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce , as previously the actors William Shatner and Christopher Plummer .
His breakthrough came in 2000 when he played a minor supporting role in Cameron Crowe's Oscar- winning film Almost Famous . Shortly afterwards he got the leading role in the youth series American Campus - Ready for the university? which was produced between 2001 and 2002.
Since then, Baruchel has been hired for both Canadian and US films and television series, including 2004 in Million Dollar Baby .
In 2002 Baruchel went on an excursion behind the camera and produced the 17-minute short film Edgar and Jane , for which he wrote the screenplay and was responsible for the production as a film producer and film director . He was also involved as cameraman , film editor and in charge of the special effects . In 2017 he directed Goon: Last of the Enforcers , the sequel to Goon - No film for pussies , released.
Jay Baruchel is also active as a musician and played drums as a teenager in the Canadian music band Martin .
He now lives in Montreal and was engaged to Canadian actress Alison Pill from May 2011 to February 2013 .
