Elisha Cuthbert (* 30th November 1982 in Calgary , Alberta as Elisha Ann Cuthbert) is a Canadian actress .

Life

Elisha Cuthbert was born in Calgary and grew up in Montreal . She started her modeling career at the age of seven. She always had the opportunity to take on smaller roles in television films and series.

So in 1996 she took on a small additional role in the series Scary, Gray, Goosebumps . During the filming, she was so well received that she was part of the regular cast in the new edition of the series from 1999. Between the ages of 15 and 18, she traveled the globe as a correspondent for the award-winning series Popular Mechanics for Kids . She received a journalism award for this and was invited to the White House by then First Lady Hillary Clinton .

Cuthbert had her international breakthrough as an actress in the role of Kimberly Bauer in the television series 24 : She plays the daughter of a government agent, in the first season she is kidnapped by terrorists. The second season is about an impending atomic bomb attack, about which she is warned by her father. Finally, in the third season, she also works as a government agent. Her character continues to appear sporadically in the following seasons.

Cuthbert was repeatedly elected to one of the top places in the elections for the FHM 100 Sexiest Women : in 2003 she came in 14th, in 2004 she took 10th place. It reached 48th place in 2005 and 54th place in 2006. In 2007 it came in 10th and in the following year in 4th place.

Other films she has starred in include Lucky Girl (2001) and Old School (2003). For her role in Lucky Girl , she received the Gemini Award for Best Female Leading Role and for her role in the first season of Series 24 , she received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Awards .

Her film The Girl Next Door (2004) was shown in only a few cinemas in Germany due to organizational problems. But it still became one of her most famous films, for which she received two nominations for the MTV Movie Award . In the more successful horror remake House Of Wax (2005) Cuthbert cast the female lead. She was nominated for the 2008 Golden Raspberry for worst actress in the horror film Captivity .

Between 2011 and 2013, she played the lead role of Alex Kerkovich in the sitcom Happy Endings for three seasons , which leaves her fiancé standing in front of the altar .

In July 2013, Cuthbert married the Canadian professional ice hockey player Dion Phaneuf , to whom she had become engaged the year before. Their daughter was born on December 21, 2017.
