action

Friends of the six college students, Carly, Paige, Wade, Blake, Dalton and Nick, arrive in two cars for one of the most important football games of the year and decide to spend the night outdoors on the way. At her sleeping place, however, there is a disturbing encounter with an unknown trucker. He drives towards the friends' tents, stands in front of them for a while with the headlights on, and then moves away again.

The next morning they notice a broken fan belt on Wade's car. Therefore, he and his girlfriend Carly have a mysterious stranger take them to the small town of Ambrose to find a replacement. Meanwhile, the other young people continue their journey in Blake's car, but soon have to turn back due to a traffic jam.

When they arrive in town, Carly and Wade go to the local gas station, but they can't find anyone there. Therefore, they go to the nearby church, unintentionally disrupting a funeral mass that is currently taking place. Embarrassed, they leave the church, but petrol station owner Bo, one of the mourners, follows them and promises to help them after the funeral.

To bridge the waiting time, Carly and Wade visit the striking local wax museum . Its building is made entirely of wax, but to Wade's astonishment does not contain any replicas of celebrities. Some time later, the couple returns to the gas station, where Bo asks the two young people to accompany him to his house to pick up the desired replacement part. Somewhat puzzled, they agree. When Wade wants to go to the toilet beforehand, Bo offers him the use of his private toilet.

Leaving the bathroom, which is at the end of a hallway in the tank attendant's house, Wade discovers a room with strange furnishings such as bovine embryos, which he therefore examines more closely. When the light goes out shortly afterwards and the door cannot be opened, he panics and does not notice how Vincent, Bo's twin brother, gains access to the room through a loose board in the floor and cuts through Wade's Achilles tendon with scissors. Vincent's face was completely disfigured during the operation to separate Bo - the two are Siamese twins - and he is therefore wearing a wax mask. He takes the unconscious victim to his wax figure workshop, where he cleans and fixes it in order to finally coat it with liquid wax.

Meanwhile, Carly is embroiled in a life and death fight with Bo, who turns out to be the trucker of the previous night. When the young woman managed to escape, she ran into the church in the hope of help, where she discovered that all the people present were corpses covered in wax. She is then overpowered by Bo and tied up in the basement of the gas station. After Wade and Carly have still not shown up at the agreed meeting point that evening, Dalton and Carly's brother Nick go in search of them. The latter meets Bo in front of the gas station and can help his sister to free herself. At this point in time, however, Dalton, Blake and Paige had already been killed by Vincent: Dalton was beheaded with two knives after he had previously found the calf made into a wax figure sitting on a wing, Blake died from a knife stab in the neck and Paige after a throwing attack with a steel pipe that bores through her entire skull.

Shortly after Nick and Carly discover Dalton's corpse completely covered in wax in the basement of the wax museum, they are attacked by Vincent. During the fight that now follows, Nick pours out a cauldron with boiling wax, which immediately ignites. Nick and Carly finally manage to overpower and kill Bo and his brother Vincent. In the meantime, the fire has spread across the entire house, which is now rapidly melting. The siblings manage to dig their way through the soft walls at the last second before the entire building collapses.

The smoke generated the local police and the ghost town is being investigated by many investigators. Rescue workers who have also arrived take Carly and Nick to a hospital. Meanwhile, one of the investigators finds out that Bo and Vincent have another brother, whereupon the man who led the friends to Ambrose can be seen smiling and waving after the ambulance.
