DreamWorks Dragons is an American computer animation series based on the 2010 film How To Train Your Dragon, based on the book of the same name by Cressida Cowell . Developed by DreamWorks Animation , this series serves as a storyline bridge for the 2014 sequel How To Train Your Dragon 2 . The series ended with a total of 118 episodes in 8 seasons.

Serial plot

Even after the Vikings of Berk and the dragons, who were once enemies with them, made peace with each other, the coexistence between the two groups is still not as harmonious as one would like it to be. To remedy this situation, Hicks and his friends set up the Berk kite training academy to make kites fit for coexistence with humans. However, there are some parties who have far more sinister purposes with the dragons, and even on these occasions Hicks must use his intelligence and leadership for the good of the Vikings and the dragons alike.

characters

People

  • Hicks the giant III. (Hiccup) : The sarcastic, very inventive protagonist of the series, son of the chief of Berk, and leader of the dragon academy.
  • Astrid Hofferson (Astrid) : The toughest and most ambitious young warrior on all of Berk. She is Hick's best friend and co-director of the Dragon Academy. In addition, she and her dragon Sturmpfeil (Stormfly) always want to be the best. In season three, she and Hicks get closer and closer until they are finally a couple in season 6, episode 11 (episode 90). You are engaged in the 2nd film.
  • Rotzbakke Joergenson (Snotlout) : The cocky show-off among the young people from Berk who wants to make himself important to Astrid, but always in vain. He later gives up and tries to impress Heidrun. Rotzbakke likes to call the weaker losers. He sees himself as the absolute winner.
  • Fischbein Ingermann (Fishlegs) : A fat, somewhat scared boy and the dragon “ nerd ” among young people.
  • Ruffnut and Tuffnut Thorston (Ruffnut and Tuffnut) : A dizygotic pair of twins with a rather crude and apparently underexposed personality, who always like to mess around with each other.
  • Haudrauf the Stoic (Stoick the Vast) : The chief of Berk, who is indeed very proud of Hicks, but still set very high expectations for him. In the course of the series Haudrauf receives his own dragon friend, a thunder drum, which he calls " Thornado ".
  • Grobian (Gobber) : Haudrauf's best friend, Berk armourer and experienced dragon slayer. In the second episode of the series, he takes on the medical care of the dragons as a further job.
  • Powdery mildew (Mildew) : A grumpy but devious hermit who lives outside the Viking village. He is the only resident of Berk who still sees dragons as his mortal enemies and tries to drive them out of Berk with all possible subversive methods and without any regard for the safety of his fellow human beings. At the end of the first season he defected to the exiles and became their official kite trainer. At the end of the second season, however, he had doubts, so he helped Hicks and his friends. He also has a sheep called Fungus that he always carries with him.
  • Alvin the Insidious is the leader of the Exiles. He is the main antagonist in season 2 and wants to catch the dragon slayer (Hicks). In the last few episodes he joins Berk and puts aside his grudge against Haudrauf. Since then, the Exiles and Berk were allied. He appears in 2 episodes of Auf zu neue Shoren.
  • Dagur the Deranged : The young, half-mad leader of the Berserker tribe (Berserkers) . He had his father, Oswald the Peace-loving (Oswald the Agreeable) , "replaced" by himself and wants to lead his tribe back to old glory by hunting and killing dragons. Above all, however, he is after Hicks Nightshade Toothless, whose head he wants to get as a trophy. He later also takes command of the exiles after setting up Alvin. After being overthrown at the end of the second season, he ends up in a dungeon on the island of exiles, from which he breaks out again at the beginning of the third season. He is rebuilding his army and threatening the dragon riders. After Dagur is defeated by them again and has found out that Heidrun is his sister, he joins the dragon hunters. After Heidrun is gone, he leaves the dragon hunters. He ends up on an island and saves Hicks there from the dragon hunters, after which he disappears again. Later he comes to the Dragon Cliff and is trained to be a dragon rider. Dagur saves the dragon riders from a trap of the dragon hunters, after which he disappears without a trace. In a letter to Heidrun, he tells his true story. He later comes back and becomes a member of the Dragon Riders. However, he returns and becomes the head of the berserk again. He then allies with the Dragon Riders, and Hicks and Dagur became friends.
  • Blank (Savage) : A member of the tribe of the exiles, and Alvin's devoted sidekick. Often he is the suffering lightning rod for Alvin's moods and outbursts of anger. In season two, he joins Dagur after defeating Alvin in battle.
  • Mulch und Pütz (Mulch and Bucket) : An unequal duo of farmers who live in Berk. Mulch feels compelled to take care of his intellectually poor friend Pütz (in English Bucket , so named after his headgear) so that he doesn't get himself into trouble. In season three, they become members of the Replacement Dragon Riders.
  • Trader Johann (Trader Johann) : A wandering merchant who sails back and forth between the islands inhabited by Vikings. Since he repeatedly brings rare and therefore much sought-after goods by during his visits, he enjoys a great reputation with all parties, including the Vikings of Berk. In the course of the 5th season it turns out that this was all just part of a larger plan and that dealer Johann is the real head of the dragon hunters. His big weakness is his big mouth and his cockiness.
  • Gustav : A small, twelve-thirteen-year-old boy (in season 3:16) with a lot of self-confidence and more luck than brains. He desperately wants to be a dragon rider and in one episode he even trains a gigantic nightmare, which he calls tooth hooks and (apparently) releases in the end. He then becomes the "girl for everything" in the academy. Rotzbakke feels responsible to him. In season 3 he returns with Zahnhaken and wants to become a permanent member of the Dragon Riders. He is a little in love with Astrid. Later he leads Berk's replacement kite riders.
  • Heidrun (Heather) : A black-haired girl who initially sought refuge with Hicks and his friends, but turned out to be a traitor. In season 3 she is a friend of the dragon riders and owns her own kite. In the second part of season 3 she supports her brother Dagur and seems to betray her 'friends' again. Later it turns out, however, that Heidrun only spied on the dragon hunters to get revenge on Dagur for the destruction of their village. Astrid had known about it for a long time. However, she learns that Dagur is her brother and so she spies on for the dragon riders until Viggo finally unmasked her and Heidrun finally joins the dragon riders. This decision was also influenced by her best friend Astrid and the love between her and Fischbein.
  • Ryker Grimborn  : Is in the 2nd season the main antagonist of the riders and the 2nd leader of the dragon hunters, although he is the older brother, his brother Viggo has the authority. Maybe that's because Ryker is only physically strong and Viggo works with the mind. He betrayed Viggo with a surprise attack and took control, but Viggo took advantage of this to forge a plan and complete it. He died of drowning in season 4.
  • Viggo Grimborn  : Is the head of the dragon hunters and the smartest antagonist of the whole series (including Krogan and Johann). While every antagonist up until then had weaknesses, Viggo has none. He is very strong and takes on Heidrun with ease and is also very smart. He trusts absolutely nobody, especially his brother, which is why no traitor remains hidden. He remains the main antagonist in the 4th, 5th and 6th season and only dies in the 8th season, where he probably falls from Ray des Skrill or in the battle of Johann's troops. He takes Hicks's side in his last episode.

Dragons

  • Toothless (Toothless) : Hicks' dragon Toothless (Toothless) is a nightshade (Night Fury) and probably the last of its kind without tooth for Hicks not only a dragon, but also his best friend.. Together they share the same dream: to finally find other nightshades. He is fast and the most powerful dragon.
  • Sturmpfeil (Stormfly) : Sturmpfeil is a deadly Nadder ( Deadly Nadder ), which forms an unbeatable team with Astrid. The special thing about the deadly Nadder is its speed and its tail, which it can use to fire spikes. Sturmpfeil is female and has a blue color.
  • Hook tooth (Hookfang) : Rotzbakkes dragon is a representative of the species Giant Misty Nightmare (Monstrous Nightmare) . Unlike most other dragons, Hook Tooth tends to either ignore Snotbakke's orders or let him slip in front of everyone. One of his skills is that he can set himself on fire. It is also able to generate a strong pressure wave with the flap of its wing.
  • Fleischklops (Meatlug) : A female Gronckel (Gronckle) and dragon friend from Fischbein, who takes care of her lovingly. It eats stones and can produce what is known as Gronckeleisen , which is particularly strong and resistant.
  • Kotz und Würg (Barf and Belch) : The names for the two heads of the mad zipper (Hideous Zippleback) , who is ridden by Raffnuss and Taffnuss in the team. One head generates a green, highly explosive gas (zipper gas) , the other ignites it by creating sparks.
  • Thornado (Thornado) : Haudrauf's dragon, a thunder drum . It is very flat and can generate powerful pressure waves.
  • The roaring death (Screaming Death) : A rare royal, albinoide subspecies of the genus whispering death (Whispering Death) , which is in the second season the chief enemy of the protagonists under the kite.
  • Skrill : An extremely rare type of dragon that stores lightning bolts from the clouds in its body and uses it for defense.
  • Skull Breaker : After Thornado leaves Haudrauf in season 2 and joins another dragon, Haudrauf finds Skull Breaker a little later. A large, powerful dragon with the ability to sense and track down other people's tracks.
  • Windscreen : Heidrun's dragon. A female razor whip. She is deadly in combat, but always stands by her friends and loves and protects Heidrun wherever she can.
  • Shadowmaster : Dagur's dragon, a green gronckel.
  • Snoop is a triple spike who was in captivity with the dragon hunters for a long time and had to fight every day. The champion dragon lived free until Dagur lost Shadow Master and then chose this triple spine as his dragon.
  • Muffel is Grobian's flaming burp. He is the only one who can break open kite-safe cages.
