Mae Margaret Whitman (born June 9, 1988 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress . She is the daughter of actress Pat Musick .

Life

She began her career with a voiceover for a commercial and made her film debut in 1994 with Meg Ryan in the drama When a Man Loves a Woman . For the role in the film Days Like This ... (1996), in which she played alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney , she won the 1997 Young Artist Award and was nominated for the YoungStar Award . From 1997 onwards she acted as voice actress for the cartoon series Johnny Bravo for seven years . In A Second Chance (1998) she played alongside Sandra Bullock , for which she won the Young Artist Award in 1999 and was nominated for the YoungStar Award in 1998. In 2001 she received a Young Artist Award for her role in the film drama An American Dream .

She had a leading role in the sitcom State of Grace from 2001 to 2002, followed by a supporting role in the television series Arrested Development . From 2005 to 2008 she lent her voice to the cartoon character Katara from Avatar - The Last Airbender . From 2010 to 2015 she played a major role in Dramedy Parenthood .
