occupation

Jesse Stone: Deadly Silence is the third episode of the Jesse Stone television series . It ran for the first time in the USA in 2006 and in Germany for the first time in 2009 . The book of the same name as the original was published in 2001.

action

A girl's body is found in the small town of Paradise. The case is being taken over by Jesse Stone, the alcoholic and divorced police chief of Paradise. After the autopsy it is clear that the murdered girl was around 14 years old. Stone visits the local school, where the principal Lilly Summers identifies the body, so the girl's name was Billy Bishop.

Stone's first prime suspect is Hooker Royce, who dated the corpse a number of times, but soon he focuses his investigation on Norman Shaw, a grown man who is rumored to have a sexual predilection for young girls. After Shaw's initial alibi is withdrawn by Leo Finn, he is arrested. It turns out that Billy was pregnant with Shaw as a father.

In addition, a shop robbery leads to a shooting in which one of Stone's police officers, Luther, is shot. He survived and is now in a coma.

Despite the clear evidence, Stone notes that, as a sailor, Shaw would have tied Billy's body more professionally. At a recent meeting with Leo Finn, it turns out that Finn was Billy's killer and made the situation look like Shaw would be suspected. Finn is killed by his bodyguard who was actually aiming at Stone. Stone also shoots the escort.

In the final scene, Jesse reads to Luther, who is in a coma in the hospital, from Harry “Suitcase” Simpson's biography .

reception

“A sheriff who wanted to calm down in the tranquil coastal town of Paradise and defeat his alcohol addiction is confronted with the death of a schoolgirl who had drug problems. His investigations confront him with the hidden sides of the apparently tranquil community. Another crime thriller as part of a television series based on Robert B. Parker , which is carried by a convincing leading actor. In contrast to its predecessors, the tension and speed screws are noticeably tightened here. "

  • TV Spielfilm describes the film as “conservative” as well as “unspectacular, but straightforward and good”.
  • Selleck also receives great praise from Kino.de, which judges the film: "A well-kept pastime for thriller friends."
