Josef Maghs

Josef Maghs (born January 5, 1927 in Geldern ; † September 26, 2011 ) was a German Roman Catholic priest .

Life

Josef Maghs received after studying Catholic theology and philosophy on 5 March 1955 in Münster the priesthood . He was chaplain in St. Michael in Wachtendonk , from 1958 in St. Georg in Haldern and from 1963 in St. Willibrord in Kellen . In 1964 Maghs was appointed pastor in St. Ludger Kapellen .

Pastor Josef Maghs has been active in the Catholic circus and showman pastoral care since the 1990s. In 2001, as the successor to Heinz-Peter Schönig, he was appointed by the German Bishops' Conference to be their representative for circus and showman pastoral care in Germany. Even after his retirement he was still involved in the circus and showman pastoral care; He passed his official office on to Martin Fuchs.

He was also called the "fair apostle".
