occupation

Jesse Stone: Ice Cold is the first episode of the Jesse Stone TV series . It ran for the first time in the USA in 2005 and in Germany for the first time in 2009 .

action

While on night patrol, Deputy Luther Simpson found the body of a young man who had been killed by two small-caliber projectiles from two different weapons. A short time later the body of a young woman killed in the same way is found. A Boston couple , who spied and videotaped the victims, are responsible for these murders. Meanwhile, Molly Crane investigates at the behest of her superior, Police Chief Jesse Stone, in the case of the gang rape of the student Candace, whom Jesse takes on in the further course. Her mother does n't want a scandal , Candace is blackmailed into silence with photos of the rape by the rapists, but Molly convicts the three guilty parties. The main culprit Bo and his bigoted father are beaten up at a meeting on the precinct by Candace's father without Stone intervening. Because the city council disapproves of the media coverage of the series of murders as being detrimental to business, it puts Stone and his team under pressure, also with regard to the rape case, which is "minor" for the city council. He strongly recommends calling in the State Police or the FBI , but Stone refuses. After the third murder in the series, Stones and Luther's investigation quickly leads her to the Boston couple who are following and filming the Stones and Luther's investigation. When Stone pressures them, they murder Stone's friend Abby, who is now the fourth victim of the serial killers. Then Candace and her family come into focus, which Jesse takes advantage of and sets a trap for the murderers. When she tries to kill him using the same pattern as in the previous murders, he shoots the serial killer in self-defense, knocks her unarmed husband to the ground and arrests him.

In the subplot, Stone has taken on the now abandoned dog of the first victim and is friends with the lawyer Abby Taylor from Night Passage ; the two get closer as a strange couple and as friends having sex , and Stone tells her about his failed marriage. In the mutual discussions he becomes aware that his alcohol problems can be traced back to his marriage and separation. His ex-wife Jen, on the other hand, slept with her producer and tries to get into the coverage of the murders, which increasingly strains Stone's telephone contact with her.

Charisma

The original first broadcast of the television film took place in February 2005 on the American television channel CBS . The film was first shown on German television in 2009. When it comes to repetitions on various German-language television channels, Eiskalt is usually broadcast as the second film in the series in chronological order.

background

After his divorce and his discharge for drunkenness on duty with the homicide squad of the Los Angeles Police Department , Jesse Stone finds his last job as police chief in Paradise, Massachusetts , a small and apparently quiet port town in New England not far from Boston . Despite his drinking problems, he is elected by the city council as the new chief of police. However, it quickly turns out that life in Paradise is by no means as heavenly and non-violent as Jesse Stone had hoped, and that the majority of the city council was persuaded by the 'businessman' and former banker Hastings "Hasty" Hathaway to choose Stone because he likes him . Jesse Stone is the boss of a small team: Molly Crane, from Alte Wunden Rose Gammon, and Luther "Suitcase" Simpson, who quickly overcome their distrust of the supposedly stubborn but jovial alcoholic and become friends, as well as Anthony D'Angelo, who had expected it to be appointed chief of police. The city council tries again and again to interfere in the work of its new police chief, so that the relationship is very tense from the start and only stabilizes with the eighth episode of the television series ( Jesse Stone: In Doubt for the Defendant ) . Captain Healy, the head of the Massachusetts State Homicide Division, becomes a friend of the police chief, and Dr. Perkins, a pediatrician, has been named local medical examiner by Jesse Stone. Other recurring characters included in the storylines are Jesse Stone's ex-wife Jenn. The plot of the nine feature films made between 2005 and 2015 partly follows the novels of Robert B. Parker only very loosely ; Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise aired in America on October 18, 2015 .

Hastings Hathaway is serving his prison sentence in the episode, which is located chronologically between Night Passage and Death in Paradise and therefore does not appear, Captain Healy as Jesse's friend and head of the state homicide department, like D'Angelo, only has a supporting role. Molly is not yet pregnant and works as a field investigator.

"First cool appearance of the eternal mustache bearer as a slightly depressed cop with a penchant for whiskey and beautiful women."

"Not a case for people who are waiting for action scenes, but the less demanding crime fanatic will get their money's worth thanks to Selleck."
