Polly Shannon (born September 1, 1973 in Kingston , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress , screenwriter and film producer .

life and career

Polly Shannon's mother was a screenwriter for children's programs on Canadian television and her father was a healthcare decision maker. Shannon made her debut in an episode of the Canadian television series Scary, Horror, Goosebumps from 1992, in the same year she starred in the television series Catwalk .

The lead role in the television thriller The Girl Opposite (1999) earned Shannon a 1999 Gemini Award nomination . The following year she was nominated for the same award for her role in the television drama The Sheldon Kennedy Story (1999). In the television series Nikita , she impersonated Michelle , the sister of the main character, who was played by Peta Wilson , in three episodes of the fifth season . In the thriller Trapped in the Bermuda Triangle (2001) Shannon played the role of Julia Lee , the fiancé of Stu Sheridan ( Luke Perry ), who is murdered by him. In the award-winning biopic Trudeau (2002) she played one of the bigger roles alongside Colm Feore . For her role in the sports comedy Men with Brooms (2002) she was nominated for the Canadian Comedy Award in 2003 . In 2005 and 2006, she played alongside lead actor Tom Selleck, his lover in the thriller Stone Cold and his prequel Jesse Stone: Night Passage , with which the first two parts of Robert B. Parker's novel series about police chief Jesse Stone were filmed . In the short film Miranda & Gordon (2006) she not only took on one of the bigger roles, but also wrote the script and co-produced the film.
