Peta Wilson (born November 18, 1970 in Sydney , New South Wales ; actually Peta Gia Wilson ) is an Australian actress and model .

Life and accomplishments

Peta Wilson was born in the Australian city of Sydney. From the age of one to six, she lived in Papua , Papua New Guinea . Her mother's name is Carlyne White. The father, Darcy Wilson, was in the military as a corporal or warrant officer , special services . Back in Australia, the family moved frequently due to the father's service. The one year younger brother, Rob Wilson, is also in the Australian Army. Peta Wilson was later educated in a Catholic girls' school in Brisbane , Queensland . She was on the Australian national team for netball and won the title of Australian Interservice Champion Trailer Sailors in sailing with her father and brother . At fifteen, she won a model-of-the-year competition in Queensland and then worked in Japan. At seventeen, she suffered from anorexia as a belated reaction to her parents' divorce, which occurred when Wilson was eleven years old. At nineteen, she was engaged for a few months to the Australian singer James Reyne, whom she met on a cruise ship.

Career

After graduating from high school , Peta Wilson worked for the Chadwick Models agency as a model in Australia and Europe (Italy and London). In 1991 she moved to Los Angeles , USA , where she studied Method Acting with Arthur Mendoza of the Actors Circle Theater in Los Angeles, Tom Waits of the TomCats Repertory Group and Sylvana Gulado . Her manager was the late Michael McLean, who also promoted the careers of Nicole Kidman , Naomi Watts and other Australian actors. Wilsons first appearance in the theater was in Fool For Love of Sam Shepard . First small and later larger roles in front of the camera followed. One of her first movies was Denver PD - The War Devils ( One of Our Own , 1997), in which she starred alongside Michael Ironside . In the television film Hell Hunt to San Francisco ( Vanishing Point , 1997) she starred alongside Viggo Mortensen .

In the Canadian television series Nikita ( La Femme Nikita , 1997-2001), Wilson took on the lead role of the martial arts-trained secret agent Nikita , whose code name is Josephine . She was selected from more than 200 applicants. The German voice actress for Nikita was Katrin Fröhlich .

The dramatic agent series became the springboard for Wilson's international career. Her photos and articles have appeared in English-language newspapers and magazines (including Vogue , Cosmopolitan , Harper's Bazaar , Esquire , Maxim , New York Post, and New York Times ). Due to scheduling difficulties, she could not take on the role of Jean Gray in the action film X-Men (2000) by director Bryan Singer ; Famke Janssen replaced them. In the 2004 television film, False Pretenses, starring Stewart Bick , Wilson played the lead role who outsmarted an unscrupulous businessman. The film was released on August 14, 2007 in Canada in English and French on DVD. In the series Jonny Zero (2005) she took on a guest role in two episodes. In January 2006, Wilson directed an episode of Bryan Brown's Australian mystery series Two Twisted . Daniel Wyllie played along. In 2006, Peta Wilson was seen in a smaller role for a few minutes as NASA commissioner in the action film Superman Returns , which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects . The science fiction film was released in German cinemas on August 17, 2006. The director was Bryan Singer.

Wilson took on a role in the independent drama Gardens of the Night (2008) from screenwriter and director Damian Harris. The cast includes: Evan Ross, a son of singer Diana Ross , Tom Arnold , Kevin Zegers , Evan Peters , Harold Perrineau , Jeremy Sisto , Raphael Sbarge and John Malkovich . The film was shot from August 21 to October 2006. The world premiere was on February 9, 2008 at the Berlinale , where it took part in the competition section. From September 2008 he was seen in US cinemas.

The six-week filming of the film Beautiful began on September 10, 2007 in Adelaide , Australia. Starring Deborra-Lee Furness , Asher Keddie, Tahyna Tozzi and Aaron Jeffery , the latter as a police officer, whose wife is played by Wilson, whose role was written for them by director and screenwriter Dean J. Fifteen days of shooting the independent film Malibu Shark Attack began on April 5, 2008. Wilson took on the role of lifeguard Heather. Other cast include Warren Christie, Chelan Simmons , Sonya Salomaa, Rachel Barton, Remi Broadway, Jeff Gannon and Mungo McKay. The director is David Lister and the producer is Brian Trenchard-Smith .

In 2013, Wilson designed her Wylie Wilson clothing line .
