Famke Janssen
Famke Janssen (* 5. November 1964 in Amstelveen as Famke Beumer ) is a Dutch actress , film director , film producer , screenwriter and a former model . She gained notoriety through her roles in US films .
life and career
Famke Janssen has two sisters, the director Antoinette Beumer and the actress Marjolein Beumer. In 1984 she moved to New York City , where she studied literature at Columbia University . She then worked successfully as a model for the Elite Model Management agency and took acting classes at the same time. She then moved to Los Angeles to begin her acting career.
Janssen initially took on guest roles in television series such as Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century and Melrose Place . Her first film role she had in 1992 in the film drama Separate ways at the side of Jeff Goldblum . Janssen's breakthrough came in 1995 as the killer Xenia Onatopp in the James Bond film GoldenEye . Last but not least, Janssen's appearances on US talk shows during the advertising campaign for the film attracted attention. For example, she took Conan O'Brien in his show in the leg scissors, as a reference to her film role as "Woman with Steel Thighs".
In the following years Janssen played minor roles in films by Woody Allen and Robert Altman as well as leading roles in action and horror films . The year 2000 marked a new high point in her career, when she demonstrated her acting versatility on the one hand with the comedy comedy Love & Sex and on the other hand established herself as a box office star through her role in the superhero film series X-Men . She declined an offer for the female lead in the 2003 film Terminator 3 - Rebellion of the Machines . She played the role of the transsexual life coach Ava Moore in the second and sixth seasons of the US series Nip / Tuck . In March 2012 she got a role in the 2013 tarnished science fiction - thriller series Hemlock Grove . Further film and television appearances followed. Her work includes around 60 productions.
Janssen speaks fluent English , Dutch and French as well as some German . From 1995 to 2000 she was married to the director and screenwriter Tod Williams .
