He received the Soul Stone, which enabled him to absorb the souls of other living beings ( Marvel Premiere # 1, 1972). He is also known by the alias Dr. Pym, the Scientific Adventurer .

Pym and his future wife Janet van Dyne become founding members of the Avengers , but self-doubts and mistakes - including the creation of the almost invincible robot Ultron - leave Pym out of the Avengers. He becomes a member of the West Coast Avengers and later founds the Avengers Academy in his old identity as Giant-Man, after having come to the conclusion through a traumatic time travel experience that it is his duty to protect the young recruits before a life as a super villain to preserve.

Pym leaves the identity of Ant-Man to ex-thief and electrical engineer Scott Lang , who once stole the suit to help his terminally ill daughter Cassandra "Cassie" Lang and has since become a valued member of the Marvel superhero world. After the charges against Brock are dropped for being under the influence of the Venom symbiote , Martin Li (Mr. Negative) cures his cancer. Shortly thereafter, Eddie is forced to fight the current host of the Venom symbiote, Mac Gargan ( Scorpion ).

The symbiote tries to reconnect with Eddie, but fails because Eddie naturally repels the symbiote. Remnants of the symbiote fuse with Eddie's white blood cells and Mr. Negative's healing powers, turning him into Anti-Venom. He fights Mac Gargan and defeats him with the help of Spider-Man . He almost kills the symbiote.

Brock later saves Spider-Man from Norman Osborn . He has to face Mac Gargan again. MacGargan stabs him with his sting, apparently destroying Brock's symbiotic suit. Mac Gargan wants to kill Eddie, but is prevented from doing so by the Venom symbiote. The suit is restored a little later.

Its colors are dedicated to the opposite.

Anti-Venom can heal itself very quickly and recognize when others are sick. He can cure any disease - including Spider-Man's spider powers. If Spider-Man comes too close to him for a long time, he will become weaker until they are separated again.

He also has similar abilities to Venom and is also not noticed by Spider-Man's spider sense. In addition, like Carnage , he can change his body to form shields or to extend his arms.

In contrast to Venom, it is insensitive to heat, sound, electricity and more. But Mr. Negative can neutralize Anti-Venom. Also, because he got the healing powers from Mr. Negative, he can heal people with his claws. He also has full control over the symbiote.

Unfortunately, this “ability” is also carried over to your companions. At Spider-Man's request, the mage Doctor Strange frees Felicia from this ability without her knowledge. In his lust for power, he wants to test it on himself, but the unstable green liquid explodes near his face. He gets the skills he wants, but the serum also costs his mind. Inspired by the idea of leading the New York underworld, he designs a Halloween costume that is reminiscent of a goblin and a dragon-like glider that enables him to fly. He also developed grenades that looked like flaming pumpkins and throwing knives in the shape of bats . His main wish is to defeat the famous Spider-Man.

The first fights are much happier and more harmless. Over the years, Osborn developed a gas that dampened Spider-Man's "spider senses", followed him to his apartment undetected and unmasked him. Then he reveals his own secret identity to the confused Peter (and thus also to the reader). In the following fight, the goblin suffers partial amnesia and forgets his alter ego . Memory returns later and Osborn seeks revenge. He kidnaps Peter's lover, Gwen Stacy, and takes her to the Brooklyn Bridge . When Peter reaches the bridge, Osborn lets Gwen fall into the depths. Despite trying to rescue Spider-Man, she dies. This marks a turning point in the history of the Marvel villains, who became increasingly sinister, cruel, and deadly. In the final battle that follows, Osborn dies, pierced by his own glider. Later, his son Harry takes over the identity of the Green Goblin, but dies of a new version of the "Goblin Serum" that poisons him.

After more than five years, Osborn returned; the serum caused an incredibly quick wound healing in him. Over the five years of his absence, Osborn has risen to become the leader of a sinister cult, the Scrier , but his hatred of Peter Parker remains unbroken and he forges a plan to destroy Peter psychologically. With the help of the jackal , Osborn creates a clone of Peter and lets him fight Spider-Man. After a fight with him, Peter thinks his clone is dead. The clone is alive, takes the name "Ben Reilly" (first name of Peter's uncle and Aunt May's maiden name), lives for a while as a globetrotter and then returns to New York.

Osborn begins to manipulate Peter until Peter believes that he himself is the clone and that Ben is the real Peter Parker. But Osborn's plan does not work. Believing that he is just a clone of Spider-Man, Peter wants to lead a "normal" life again. He passes the burden of being Spider-Man on to Ben and moves to Portland with his wife, Mary Jane . Angry that his plan was unsuccessful, Osborn ends his psychological tricks and reveals himself. The goblin attacks Ben and Peter. A fight breaks out and Peter has to give up hope that his worst enemy is dead and buried. Both the jackal and Ben die during the fight when he tries to protect Peter. When Ben's body crumbles to dust in no time, it's proof that Ben was the clone and not Peter. Peter himself just gets away with his life - but he knows that his archenemy, the goblin, is back.

Osborn regains control of his industrial empire, and after a short time Norman arranges a hostile takeover of the Daily Bugle . He immediately used the newspaper to launch a smear campaign against Spider-Man with the aim of ruining his reputation. Finally there is the meeting of the five , an ancient ritual in which the participants are randomly given five gifts: power, knowledge, immortality, madness and death. Osborn speculates on power but receives madness. Spider-Man can defeat the megalomaniac in a fight, but the building of the Daily Bugle falls victim. With the help of his Scriers, Norman escapes the collapsing building. With medical and psychiatric means, Norman regains a sense of sanity. While Osborn slowly recovers, J. Jonah Jameson manages to regain control of the Bugle.

Osborn later succeeds in the Civil War series, after the superheroes got caught in the crossfire of public criticism by a failed mission by the New Warriors , to show themselves as benefactors of humanity. He tries to systematically take out the American superheroes through clever manipulation of public opinion and his own super team (made up of well-known super villains), which leads to the creation of the newest Avengers team. Loki tried several times to destroy Thor and the gods of Asgard and to unleash the forces of evil. Unlike his role model, Loki had no creative or changeable character traits in this version and thus resembled Christian Satan . This characterization was initially retained after Loki's death and rebirth as a woman in 2004, but from the storyline Siege (2010) Loki took on morally less clear traits: reborn as a child, the young Loki resisted the dark plans of his old self. He even joins the Young Avengers and fights with dubious methods, but on the side of good. He is in constant battle with himself and his good ( "Kid Loki" ) and evil ( "Ikol" ) side. Continuing his character development, Loki becomes the god of stories.

After Morlun apparently killed Ezekiel, Spider-Man finally succeeds in charging himself with radioactivity, since the spider that bitten was radioactive and he is therefore not as "pure" as Morlun thought. However, while he finally hesitates to kill Morlun, he is suddenly shot by his servant Dex, who can no longer endure Morlun.

However, it later turns out that Morlun is still alive. In the comic event "Spider-Verse" , in which Morlun and his relatives hunt down Spider-Man and his versions of alternative realities, his background story is explained: He is part of a family of vampires who travel through the dimensions to find themselves to feed from local beings with spider powers. When Ohnn left the dimension (a white space with black dots), the point was born. The point is a being that is provided with dozens of black points or dimension holes, and has the ability to detach them from its body and place them in other places. It is therefore possible for him either to go completely into one hole and to step out of another by traveling through the dimensions, i.e. to teleport himself, as it were, or to only transfer body parts such as arms or legs through the holes, so that he, for example has the possibility of attacking an opponent surrounded by several of his holes from these holes at the same time. Eventually, he turns on Jameson, who made him what he is, and becomes a super villain and opponent of Spider-Man. At times he joins the Sinister Six , but does not work well with other supervillains. He's stronger than Spider-Man in terms of his superpowers, but not as fast and agile as he is, and also very impulsive and not exactly intelligent. Spider-Man can defeat him almost every time they clash, mostly by provoking and outwitting him, or by making use of his speed. The scorpion wears a green costume, which also has a mechanical tail that the scorpion can control mentally. He can spit acid out of this and extend a side blade.

Spider-Carnage

Spider-Carnage is a character from an alternate dimension . He appears in the last two episodes of New Spider-Man .

Origin
Peter Parker did not have it easy, after the death of his uncle his aunt died too. Then it and its spider powers fell into the hands of Miles Warren, an expert on genetics . He cloned Peter. The clone and the original fled without knowing who the clone and who the original was. One of the two believed he was the clone, dyed his hair blonde and then called himself Ben Reily, from his uncle's first name and his aunt's last name. He became the scarlet spider (original: Scarlet Spider), which made the other Peter terribly angry. The next hammer came from Dr. Connors, who had found out that Reily was very likely the original. Then Peter went crazy. Later on, Scarlet Spider wanted to stop the kingpin from committing a crime again. The crime boss had developed an interdimensional glider that would have made him invincible. Then Peter appeared and attacked Ben. Suddenly the Carnage symbiote appeared from some other dimension . He bonded with Peter and robbed him of the last bit of his mind .

It is unknown whether it is the Carnage symbiote of the Classic Spider-Man, who is sent into the dimension of the being Dormammu in a New Spider-Man episode, together with Venom (who, however, unintentionally went with him, he protected his Great love, see the New Spider-Man episode Carnage , also known as The Venom Saga 05 ).

New Spider-Man
Spider-Carnage wanted to destroy all dimensions and allied with the Kingpin. He made him believe that he was working on mind control to gain world domination. However, he had made the calculation without the "otherworldly" and Madame Webb. These had helped Scarlet Spider to mobilize the classic Spidey, Octo Spidey, Six Armed Spidey, a powerless Spidey and Armored Spider-Man from other realities. Spider-Carnage had to flee.

He fled to Armored Spidey's world, but only one of the other Spider-Men could follow him. Classic Spider-Man followed Spider-Carnage, who had re-allied with the Kingpin. The two captured Spider-Man and then went to a festival in honor of Armored Spidey. Gwen, the fiancée of this one, freed Spider-Man because she had noticed how crazy her "fiancé" was. Gwen and Spidey were able to defeat Spider-Carnage, but Kingpin prevented Gwen and her ultrasound launcher from separating the symbiote from Peter. Spider-Carnage kidnapped Gwen and revealed that he must now destroy each dimension individually without the resources of the Kingpin. Spider-Man realizes that he cannot defeat Spider-Carnage in battle and looks for Uncle Ben. This can bring Spider-Carnage to his senses. The symbiote, however, is so powerful that Peter cannot separate it from himself, and destroys himself with the converted "dimensional destruction machine".

Powers
He has all the powers of Spider-Man and Carnage and can make his symbiote Suit look like the normal Spidersuit. Like all symbiotes, Spider-Man's spider sense does not perceive him.

Task master

Anthony "Tony" Masters has "photographic reflexes" (similar to photographic memory ) that enable him to remember every movement he has ever seen and to carry out it himself. This ability got him a job as a SHIELD agent, where one day he gave himself a version of the super soldier serum. This improved his powers, but at the same time ensured that his memories were overwritten by the acquisition of new skills. As a result, he gradually forgot his identity and work at SHIELD, which led to a moral change. He committed a few forays and finally founded an academy in which, as a taskmaster, he mainly taught criminals how to fight. After this was disbanded by the Avengers , he turned to work as a mercenary and contract killer, with good pay always his top priority. Examples of the skills he copied are Captain America's Shield Fighting , Black Knight's Sword Fighting , and Hawkeye's Archery . It appeared for the first time in 1980 in The Avengers # 180 , and in 2002 it also received its own series, limited to four issues.

Thanos

Thanos is a vicious, immortal warrior who first appeared in a condensed story in Iron Man # 55 (Feb 1973), Captain Marvel vol.1 # 25–33 (1972–1974), Daredevil vol.1 # 107 (1974) and Avengers vol. 1 # 125 (1974) occurs. He is the descendant of an earthly eternal and a humanoid alien woman, the last survivor of a colony on Saturn's moon Titan , but has dominant deviant genes (see Skrulls for an explanation of the terms deviant and eternal ). Thanos has fallen in love with death (in the Marvel Universe death is often depicted as a female entity) and in his madness tries to win her heart by trying to destroy the universe. Often because of this, he clashed with the heroes of the earth. His brother Eros, a thoroughbred Eternal, became a member of the Avengers as a Starfox .

Other media:

Thanos appears in the credits of Marvel's The Avengers and is played by Damion Poitier . In Guardians of the Galaxy , the credits of Avengers: Age of Ultron , Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame , Thanos is played by Josh Brolin .

Tombstone

Tombstone (Eng. "Gravestone") is an opponent of Spider-Man . Lonnie Lincoln was the only albino in Harlem and began beating and robbing other children. When he was an adult, Lincoln worked for the Criminal Syndicate. When he broke into a chemical factory on their behalf, there was an accident in which his skin became rock hard. It's so strong that Spider-Man broke his hand the first time he hit Tombstone. Tombstone is often in the service of the kingpin .

Other media:

Tombstone appears in the series The Amazing Spider-Man , where he does not work for Kingpin, but for his rival Silvermane . In The Return of the Tombstone , he turns out to be a childhood friend of Joe Robertsons. Here, however, he was not an albino before the transformation, but an African-American. When he later almost falls into a chemical tank again (apparently with the same mixture), but is rescued by Spider-Man, the latter says as an allusion to the Joker : "Maybe your hair will turn green this time." He also appears in the Spectacular Spider-Man series . Man on where he is identical to another Spider-Man opponent, the Big Man (in the comic, the Big Man is the Daily Bugle employee Frederick Foswell). However, in the course of the series he is overthrown by the Green Goblin , who in turn becomes the city's biggest crime boss.

Ultron

Ultron was founded by Dr. Hank Pym to create a milestone in artificial intelligence . But something went wrong with his programming and he developed a God complex as well as a great hatred for his creators and humanity. Under the code name Crimson Cowl, Ultron founded the first "Masters of Evil" and incited them against the Avengers . He is the archenemy of the Avengers. Ultron made its first appearance in Avengers # 54/55 in 1968.

Other media:

Venom

Venom (real name Eddie Brock ) is an archenemy of Spider-Man and in some of his versions is Spider-Man's most dangerous opponent. Venom is the union of reporter Eddie Brock and an alien symbiote . He looks like a bigger, stronger version of Spider-Man in his black costume. Spider-Man had originally brought the symbiote with him from Battleworld , the world of the Beyonder, as a supposed item of clothing and only later noticed that the suit had intelligence, was nourished by the life energy of its host and wanted to merge with him to create the adrenaline, the Spider-Man when using its superpowers, releases it as food.

After Spider-Man had apparently defeated the symbiote, taking advantage of his weakness towards sound waves, above a bell tower, the symbiote merged with the unsuccessful photo reporter Eddie Brock to form Venom. Since not only the symbiote has an antagonism towards Spider-Man, but Eddie Brock also has a grudge against Peter Parker, Venom's ultimate goal is to get revenge on Spider-Man. In contrast, he tries to protect the innocent because he sees himself as an innocent man who has been seen through both Peter Parker (who cost him the job and ruined his life) and Spider-Man (who rejected the symbiote and in turn watches tried to kill) was damaged. However, that does not rule out that he might join the Sinister Six super villain group, for example .

The symbiote is black except for a white spider symbol and two markings on the "head" that look like eyes; it increases the strength of its wearer, can form limited tentacles, shoot nets, enable the wearer to adhere to walls, can imitate the shape of clothing and camouflage the wearer almost perfectly. In addition, it is imperceptible to Spider-Man's spider sense. He is sensitive to fire, electricity and sound, a weakness of his symbiote race. The descendants Carnage , Toxin and Scorn, among others, also emerged from the symbiont . The alien symbiote first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man # 252 in May 1984 (as a mere new, black costume), in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars # 8 in December 1984 (as an alien symbiote) and in Amazing Spider-Man # 298 from March 1988 for the first time as Venom.

Although mostly bitter enemies, Venom and Spider-Man have allied themselves several times to take on the threat of Carnage or other dangers. Later Eddie Brock gets tired of the symbiote and thus Venoms and sells the symbiote on the Internet to Mac Gargan, the scorpion , another recurring Spider-Man opponent. This new , now third Venom first appeared in Marvel Knights Spider-Man # 10 (March 2005).

Peter’s former school enemy Flash Thompson is currently connected to a symbiote after he lost both legs in Iraq. As Agent Venom , he is a member of the antihero team of the Thunderbolts and temporarily the Guardians of the Galaxy .

Various new symbionts were introduced around 2014 and further details were published. For example, the species of symbiote is originally peace-loving, but the first known symbiote (the one from Battleworld) lost his mind through contact with Deadpool due to his disturbed psyche, which is why he has been similarly negative since then. It was also revealed that all symbionts have a weakness for chocolate.

As the newly formed Fantastic Four stole his attention more and more with their heroics, the envy grew in him and he chose the superhero team, especially their celebrated youngest member, the human torch , as his archenemies. As a result, he succeeded several times in catching the human torch and accusing it of several crimes, which were always resolved. Wittman finally founded the Terrible Four (Original: Frightful Four ), the villain counterpart to the Fantastic Four, consisting of the Trapster, Medusa and Sandman . Thanks to his ingenuity, he was always able to fight the Fantastischen Vier with technologically highly developed weapons, such as the "anti-gravity disks" and the "wonder gloves". The girl grew up in a church in Chicago and eventually became self-employed as a mercenary. After several successful missions, Domino was finally hired to help the genius scientist Dr. Guarding Milo Thurman. The mercenary and the scientist eventually fell in love and got married. The young marriage came to a tragic end when terrorists from the AIM organization tried to get Dr. Kidnap Thurman. Domino was separated from her husband, who was apparently killed in the attack.

Domino's mutant power expresses itself according to its own statements in unbelievable luck. In combat, she manages to avoid machine gun shots, while her own shots always hit the target. Other examples include sudden defects in your opponent's weapons and equipment, accidentally pressing the correct operating button among many other keys, a soft surface when falling from a great height, or even a lightning strike during a thunderstorm.

In fact, Domino's "luck" is a form of unconscious telekinesis. In stressful situations, it can influence the probability of events in its favor. However, this is limited to events that are unlikely but not impossible. In addition, in the event of danger, your brain automatically emits signals that instinctively make your body perform the correct movements to avoid attacks. However, Domino's powers only work on things that they can perceive. So if she doesn't notice an attack or makes no attempt to evade it, it can still injure or kill her. Regardless of her strength, Domino is adept at handling all types of firearms, which are her preferred weapon in combat. But she also knows how to defend herself in close combat. Due to their mutation, Domino has had a chalk-white skin color since childhood. The black circle above her left eye is a tattoo that "marked" her during the experiments.

Over the years, Professor X teaches her to deal with her immense powers and partially releases them again. At his side, Jean develops into one of the psychologically strongest mutants.

Jean married Scott Summers ( Cyclops ) in an alternate timeline and they have a daughter, Rachel Anne Summers , who has skills similar to her mother's. That marriage is later abandoned after Scott gets involved with Emma Frost . Rachel found a way out of a Sentinel- dominated future into the "main reality" of the Marvel Universe and took the code name Phoenix herself .

Even Professor X (who believes that her power as Phoenix is almost limitless) and Magneto together cannot defeat her. One of the slaves, who - apart from a missing finger on one hand and two existing hearts - is very human-like, wants to flee from the world. In the ensuing war, the highest rulers cause the human slave to lose his memory, whereupon he can escape from the world and come to earth.

Magneto

Magneto (maiden name Max Eisenhardt ; code name Erik Magnus Lehnsherr ) is the "master of magnetism " and one of the most powerful mutants thanks to his ability to control magnetism. It can manipulate all types of metal down to the atomic level and electromagnetic force fields as well as generate energy surges. This enables him, among other things, to fly by standing on a metal plate. The archenemy of Professor X and thus the X-Men , in contrast to Xavier, considers a peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants to be utopian and advocates using their powers to protect the mutants in order to gain control over humanity; these divergent ideologies of Magneto and Professor X are also the reason for their mutual antagonism. Originally conceived as a "classic" super villain with megalomaniac ideals of rule, Magneto developed more and more into a broken, very human figure.

As a boy, Max Eisenhardt was an inmate of a concentration camp in Poland during World War II, from which he was liberated by a special detachment of US soldiers, Captain America and Logan . His magnetic forces only developed in his adulthood. Generally embittered and marked by the abuse and subsequent bad experiences with normal people, he is now trying to improve the world at least for the small minority of mutants by breaking the superiority of Homo sapiens . Magneto founded the "Brotherhood of Mutants" (Original: Brotherhood of Evil Mutants , later only Brotherhood of Mutants ) to fight against Professor X and the rest of humanity. In his experiments on misshapen people, Essex discovered something in their blood that he called the "Essex factor"; better known today in the Marvel Universe as X-Gen . Dr. Essex's theories about the mutants and their future as the next level of humanity were laughed at, and the embittered scientist plunged deeper into his research. He did not hesitate to conduct experiments on abducted people or to exhume his son, who died of a birth defect at the age of four, for an examination; that eventually brought his wife to the grave. Essex's work soon caught the eye of a kindred spirit: the ancient mutant Apocalypse . After Essex swore allegiance to the tyrant, he was subjected to a mutation process by the Apocalypse that gave him enormous longevity, increased strength and an immense healing factor.

In the 1940s, Sinister worked as a scientist in the service of the Nazis . He also worked at the Auschwitz concentration camp , where he met the young Magneto . After the end of World War II, Sinister's research records were confiscated by US forces, and the findings from Sinister's human experiments were intended to pave the way for the American Gun Plus Project , under which Wolverine , Deadpool, and others were "created". Sinister commissioned his subordinate, Gambit , to lead the Marauders , a group of mutants and mercenaries, in an attack on the Morlocks , a community of fate of physically deformed or disfigured mutants who hid from the world in New York's sewers ; the infamous Mutant Massacre . Sinister was also responsible for cloning Jean Gray , which would later become Madelyne Pryor . He was also responsible for the legacy virus , which was programmed to infect and kill mutants. Mister Sinister has from Apocalypse et al. a. receive an enormously increased strength, healing and lifespan as well as through later self-experiments the skills of telekinesis , telepathy , shapeshifting and energy rays to "shoot" out of his hands. At the beginning of the Amazing X-Men series, he is rescued from Hell by the X-Men (who were able to get there through a portal that the Bamfs built), where he followed his father Azazel from Paradise to take him to keep from conquering the sky. He saves Storm (now divorced from Black Panther), who is kidnapped and almost killed by pirates, and confesses to her that he fell in love with her years ago. Upon his return to the X-Men, he also confronts Mystique about why she didn't take care of him, whereupon she explains to him that he was kidnapped as a baby. Then he forgives her.

During the events of the House of M - Crossover , Professor X's mutant gene was wiped out, making him human. Because of these battles, the earth is threatened with destruction. This has so far been prevented by the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.

New Mutants

The New Mutants (dt .: The New Mutants ) are a group of young mutants who are just discovering their strengths and learn to control, and under the auspices of the X-Men are. The group was originally founded when the X-Men apparently disappeared in space during the fight against the parasitic alien race the Brood , and Professor Xavier, under the influence of a Brood embryo inserted in him, assembled the first new mutants so that they could be used as hosts for future Brood queens should serve. Together with the X-Men, this plan was thwarted, and the New Mutants now officially became Xavier's students. Some of its members switched to the X-Men and other mutant groups after graduation, while others went their own way.

The first appearance of the New Mutants was Marvel Graphic Novel # 4 (December 1982), the team consisted of the aviator Cannonball (Samuel "Sam" Guthrie) protected by an impenetrable protective field , the telepath Karma (Xi'an Coy Manh), the illusions generating psyche (Danielle Moonstar), the superhumanly strong Sunspot (Roberto da Costa) and Wolfsbane (Rahne Sinclair), who could transform into a wolf-like creature.

The first New Mutants series appeared following the Marvel Graphics Novel and ran 100 issues and seven annuals from 1982 . The series was then continued with new numbering as X-Force from 1991. A second series started in 2009. Another New Mutants series appeared in 2003, with Elixir , Icarus , Prodigy , Surge , Wallflower and Wind Dancer as well as the former New Mutants members Karma, Magma , Danielle Moonstar and Wolfsbane; These New Mutants were not an independent team, but the name of one of the numerous "school teams" at the time within the X-Men / Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters .

New Warriors

A group of predominantly young and adolescent superheroes who appeared in three series from the 1990s and who offered themselves as an alternative to the established hero groups. The founding members were almost all superheroes who had already been established but had not performed or performed successfully for a long time, so-called "B-Figures" ( Kid Nova and Speedball had their own series in the past, Firestar their own mini-series), and team ( a version of Marvel Boy from the future was a Major Victory member of the Guardians of the Galaxy ) and minor ( Namorita is a relative of Namor's ) characters. Only Night Thrasher was created for the series .

The New Warriors were founded by Night Thrasher (Dwayne Taylor) to avenge the deaths of his parents, but it was later revealed that their deaths had been orchestrated by his tutors Chord and Tai because Dwayne was unwittingly part of a secret Cambodian cult that sought dominion over humanity. The New Warriors later managed to crush this cult.

The New Warriors later indirectly starred in the Civil War series of stories when a botched mission at Stamford that killed much of the team and hundreds of innocents re-fueled the superhero controversy that Norman Osborn exploited for control over much of the super-population of the Marvel Universe.

The New Warriors first appeared in Thor # 411 (December 1989). Her first series includes 75 regular issues and four annuals, a second from 1999 eleven, and a third 20 issues. A mini-series with six issues was also published.

Power pack

Power Pack is a group of four adolescents, siblings Alex (gravity manipulation), Julie (flight ability), Jack (controlling the molecular density of his body) and Katie (converting matter into energy) Power . They received their superpowers from a dying alien while they were chasing the alien kidnappers of the power parents. The only members of the Power Pack outside of the Power family were Franklin Richards , the son of Reed and Susan Richards of the Fantastic Four , under the alias Tattletale , and the (also teenage) aliens Elan and Kofi .

Power Pack first appeared in Power Pack # 1 in 1984 . The series ran for 62 issues and differed from other team titles of its time in that, in addition to the occasional battles with aliens, it also dealt with real-life topics such as crime, drug use and violence against children. After the regular series ended, two mini series appeared; one (with four parts) revolved around the now adolescent power children, and a later one (eleven chapters of four issues each, between 2005 and 2010), aimed at significantly younger readers, returned to the still prepubescent power children and has Manga bonds. Furthermore, various one-shots and guest appearances appeared in other Marvel comic titles.

Since 2010, Julie Power has appeared as a teenager in the Avengers Academy series (from # 20), while Alex, under his Power Pack code name Zero-G, is a junior member of the Future Foundation , which developed from Die Fantastischen Vier.

In their self-proclaimed holy war, the Purifiers have no scruples and even kill mutant children and normal people who get in their way. However, their blind fanaticism is not the most dangerous thing about this organization. With wealthy patrons in high positions, the Purifiers are equipped with heavy weapons and the latest technology, which in some cases even allows them to block the powers of mutants. Together with the military training of their fighters, this makes them deadly opponents.

  • Cybertek Systems Inc .: A division of Roxxon responsible for cybernetics research. They later also made the Deathlok prostheses and armor.
  • Kronos Corporation : Originally founded in Russia as "Kronas Corporation" with the latent goal of destroying the USA, the company took over Roxxon Energy Corporation some time after it was founded. Through a change of power, the Roxxon department managed to regain control of the company, whereupon Roxxon became the umbrella company and the Kronas Corporation was renamed "Kronos Corporation".
  • Metrobank : A New York-based bank that acts as a subsidiary of Brand Corporation.

Sentinels

The first-class Sentinels (and models from the parallel storyline Days of Future Past from Uncanny X-Men # 141 ) were too independent and rebelled against their creators. In the 1970s, the Sentinels were reactivated as an illegal government project under the name Project: Wideawake ( Project: "Hellwach" ).

All Sentinels are equipped with highly developed weapons and sensors specifically for tracking down mutants and can be equipped with additional armament for special opponents. Although originally inorganic, Sentinels with human components have also been created over the years, such as the Mark VIII series (which is controlled by human pilots) and the Bio-Sentinels (humans infected with a nanovirus).

Sinister Six

The Sinister Six (also: The Sinistren Six ) are a loose alliance of super villains who have a common goal: revenge on Spider-Man . Originally under the leadership of Dr. Octopus were in the "original cast" Electro , Kraven the Hunter , Mysterio , Sandman and the Geier .

All members of the Sinister Six had previously been defeated by Spider-Man and now hoped to make up for this disgrace by joining forces. Octopus' plan for the first "Sinistren Six" was: The six should kidnap Betty Brent, whom Spider-Man had saved before. Then Spider-Man should be attacked by each of the six villains one after the other, each carrying a map with the location of the next fight. Octopus speculated that even if his comrades should lose, Spider-Man would be so weakened by each subsequent fight that he would no longer be able to survive the fight against him as the last enemy. Sandman and Electro kidnapped Betty at May Parker's - and took the latter as a second hostage. Now that his beloved aunt's life was at stake too, Spider-Man had no choice but to go into this game.

Although each villain carefully chose the scene of their battle to their advantage, they could not overcome Spider-Man; he remained victorious in all battles, freed the hostages, and put all the members of this first Sinister Six in prison. After this humiliation, the group broke up for the time being. Doctor Octopus reformed the group years later; Hobgoblin now took the place of the late Kraven. Octopus' plan was to hijack a missile and blackmail humanity after tampering with the missile's charge. With the help of Thor, the god of thunder, and Sandman, who was fighting for the law at the time, Spider-Man was able to thwart the plan. During the fight it was also discovered that Octopus had planned to cheat his comrades out of the extorted money, which Dr. Octopus earned the eternal hatred of his former teammates. The angry five members teamed up to get revenge on their ex-leader. When Spider-Man and Hulk joined the fight, however, they all regrouped against their common enemies. With the help of weapons and robots from another dimension and an alien ally named Gog, the Sinistren Six were more powerful than ever; It was only thanks to the joint efforts of Deathlok, Solo, Ghost Rider , Nova of the New Warriors , Sleepwalker, Spider-Man, Hulk and the Fantastic Four that the danger could be averted.

After Kaine's murder of Dr. Octopus took over the leadership of Mysterio and reformed the group. Mysterio wanted to get Octopus valuable files with the help of the team. Together with Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly), Spider-Man was able to prevent this and uncover the plan. At that time, Kaine began a bloody crusade against Spider-Man's enemies. He had already killed Doctor Octopus and Grim Hunter, and many of Spider-Man's enemies feared for their lives. In order to destroy Kaine before he could kill them one by one, some villains now formed the Sinister Seven , a group consisting of Beetle, Electro, Hobgoblin, Mysterio, Scorpia, Shocker and the Vulture for self-protection . Spider-Man's intervention prevented further bloodshed and the Seven went their separate ways again.

After his revival by the cult of True Faith , Doctor Octopus took on the job of protecting Senator Steward Ward, who was involved in a large-scale alien conspiracy. The remaining members of the Six seized the opportunity to take revenge on their ex-leader, especially since the enemies Ward had offered a high reward for his kidnapping. Together with the surprisingly added Venom to their ranks , they were able to corner Ward until it triggered an explosion of mysterious energy. The villains fled, but Electro and Mysterio continue to work together to arrest Ward. The Sinister Six first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man Annual # 1 (1964).

Other media:

In the series New Spider-Man , the Sinister Six were brought together by Kingpin . The team consisted of Doctor Octopus, Shocker, Chameleon , Rhino , the Scorpion and Mysterio (he was later replaced by the Vulture). In a more recent series ( The Spectacular Spider-Man ), the Sinister Six are formed from Doctor Octopus, the Vulture, Sandman, Rhino, Electro and Shocker.

Skrulls

The Skrulls are an alien race of shapeshifters , created by the Celestials , cosmic entities who carried out evolutionary experiments on suitable planets (such as Earth), creating two “side races” besides Homo sapiens: the barbaric and genetically unstable deviants, and the Eternals born with super abilities. The Skrulls are the deviants of their race who wiped out their genetic siblings and thus took control of the Skrull world. One of its best-known members is the Super-Skrull , who, after an artificial genetic manipulation , combines the powers of the original Fantastic Four in addition to its ability to change shape . The Skrulls first appeared in Fantastic Four # 2 (January 1962).

Watchers

The Watchers (German: Observer ) are an ancient race of aliens who have highly developed mental and intellectual abilities. After an attempt to advance the lower races of the universe to a higher level of development ended in disaster, the shocked watchers decided to instead behave completely neutrally and merely observe the evolutionary processes of every inhabited world ( Tales of Suspense # 52 -53). The Watcher Uatu, assigned to Earth, violated the principles of his people out of sympathy for the people and became an occasional ally of the Fantastic Four in the fight against Galactus . The Watchers, represented by Utau, first appeared in Fantastic Four # 13 (1963).

Weapon Plus

Weapon Plus (dt .: weapon Plus ) is the umbrella term for a number of military research programs, which was created by the US government (sometimes also involving the British, German and Canadian governments) to life. Their purpose consists in the creation of soldiers with superhuman strength, for the war effort and later also for the solution of the "mutant problem".

For this purpose, numerous inhuman and illegal experiments on normal humans and mutants alike took place in the various programs. In an effort to impart superhuman strength to the former or to strengthen the strength of the latter, a wide variety of scientific methods have been used. This includes implant surgery, chemical mutagens, steroids, brainwashing, cloning, nanotechnology, symbiotic bacteria and "accelerated evolution". To date there have been fifteen such programs, some of which have had little success while others have produced large numbers of "super soldiers".

Weapon Plus has its beginnings in the so-called Weapon 0 program, which was conducted largely on a theoretical basis by American, British and German eugenicists during the 1930s . The first real success was the Weapon I program in the 1940s, which spawned Captain America with the help of the super soldier serum . After the death of the scientific director, all further attempts to replicate the super soldier serum failed. Over three hundred African American soldiers who were used as test subjects lost their lives. The Weapon II to Weapon VI projects took place on a smaller scale over the next few decades and were mainly tested on ethnic minorities and animals. The next big project, Weapon VII, took place during the Vietnam War when numerous US soldiers were used as guinea pigs. The Weapon VIII and Weapon IX projects were again tested on a smaller scale on convicted criminals.

As the number of mutants and their public perception increased, numerous mutants were used as test subjects in the tenth program, Weapon X. The most famous of them is undoubtedly James "Logan" Howlett ( Wolverine ), whose entire skeleton was coated with the metal adamantium . Weapon X was successful enough to turn the recruited mutants into a BlackOps team called "Team X" that served the CIA well for years. While Weapon X was officially under the direction of the Canadian government, the program was in fact still a branch of Weapon Plus. When Wolverine ran amok as a result of the brutal experiments, he killed numerous employees of the program and thereby enabled most of the test subjects to escape. For this reason, Weapon X was put on hold for many years and only temporarily resumed under the sole direction of the Canadian government. Weapon X finally experienced its final rebirth under the direction of the "director" Malcolm Colcord, who secretly used the program to act out his hatred of mutants. Under his direction the Neverland concentration camp was created, in which kidnapped mutants were held prisoner. While the "useful" prisoners were abused for experiments, the "uninteresting" ones were simply murdered in gas chambers. Due to a power struggle between Colcord and Brent Jackson, Weapon X disintegrated into warring factions. Little has been heard of the dreaded project since then, but what is certain is that its leaders are still active.

Recently, however, an organization called "The Facility" appeared, which apparently represents a splinter group of Weapon X and is carrying out similar mutant experiments. The facility is also responsible for creating Wolverine's female clone, Laura Kinney ( X-23 ).

The Weapon XI to Weapon XV programs primarily dealt with the development of nanotechnology and its implantation in humans. An exception is Weapon XIV, which is responsible for creating the Stepford Cuckoos (cloning of the telepath Emma Frost).

Other media:

The Weapon X program around the creation of Wolverine plays a role in X-Men , X-Men 2 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine . In Captain America: The First Avenger , the focus is on the transformation of Captain America into a super soldier (there, however, with the name "Project Rebirth").

X-Force

X-Force is the name of three different superhero teams; the last of these three a secret X-Men fighting group . She takes on missions that are too delicate even for the X-Men. And they don't shy away from deadly violence. This current team is led by Wolverine .

The X-Men form a superhero group of mutants who fight for recognition. The comic series first appeared in 1963. The members of the X-Men were frequently changed by the various authors. Some members also changed sides or former opponents were added to the team. This makes it very difficult to classify the characters as good and bad, which is why the individual X-Men are listed above in separate points.

Other media:

On the basis of the comic, a series of films was released that comprised twelve films until 2019 , including three solo films of the character Wolverine and two films about the character Deadpool .
