Marvel's The Defenders , also known as The Defenders , is an action series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe . The miniseries was released on August 18, 2017.

In November 2013, Marvel and Disney announced that they were planning a miniseries titled Marvel's The Defenders , which would bring together the title characters from four previous series, Marvel's Daredevil , Marvel's Jessica Jones , Marvel's Luke Cage, and Marvel's Iron Fist . Like the previous series, Marvel's The Defenders is produced for the video-on-demand streaming portal Netflix . The series is based on the fictional Defenders team, with the members, who consist of Doctor Strange , Hulk , Namor and the Silver Surfer in the original comics , being exchanged for Daredevil , Jessica Jones , Luke Cage and Iron Fist . In April 2016 Marvel announced that Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez as before for Daredevil for the miniseries Marvel's The Defenders as showrunner would act.
Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist were cast in the previous series. In February 2016, Marvel confirmed that the entire cast would slip into their roles again for Marvel's The Defenders . Like the actions of the other four series, Marvel's The Defenders takes place in New York City , where the series is filmed as well as the previous series.
