Charlie Thomas Cox (born December 15, 1982 in London , England ) is a British actor .

Life

The youngest of five children, Charlie Cox grew up in East Sussex, UK . Later enjoyed Cox educated at Sherborne School in Sherborne in the county of Dorset , where he was awarded the Gerald Pitman Award. Cox, who wanted to be an actor from an early age, then attended the Bristol Old Vic acting school .

In 2002 he received a guest role on the British BBC television series Judge John Deed . Cox made his film debut in 2003 in the love drama A Dangerous Kiss at the side of Gael García Bernal . In the following years he played supporting roles in films such as Michael Radford's Shakespeare adaptation The Merchant of Venice (2004) and Lasse Hallström's Casanova (2005). With his leading role in Matthew Vaughn's fantasy film Der Sternwanderer (2007), he achieved international fame, but was initially unable to build on this success. 2014 he played a supporting role in the award-winning Stephen Hawking - biopic The Theory of Everything (2014). He has also appeared on the Southwark Playhouse stage in Harold Pinter's plays The Lover and The Collection .

Cox celebrated international success again from 2015 with the lead role of the eponymous superhero in the Marvel television series Daredevil .
