history
The Sherborne School was re-established by Edward IV in 1550 on the walls of a convent school that had existed since the 8th century and was renamed King Edward's School . After the Protestant Reformation it was given its current name, Sherborne School. In 1977 the International College for the Education of Foreign Students was also established in Sherborne. In March 2005 a daughter school was founded in Doha , Qatar . The Sherborne School site was the location of the movie Scream in the Past in 1951, and in 1969 Goodbye, Mr. Chips was also filmed there. It was also mentioned in the books A First Class Murder by John le Carré and The Loom of Youth by Alec Waugh .
In 2005 it became known that Sherborne School was among 50 influential independent schools in the country to organize an illegal price cartel ; this had allowed them to increase their school fees enormously.
