The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a planned American television series about the eponymous main characters Falcon and Winter Soldier within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The first publication should take place on the streaming provider Disney + .

At the end of October 2018, it was reported for the first time that a separate series about the characters Falcon and Winter Soldier was being developed on the Disney + streaming service . Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, already known from the MCU films, will take on the roles again. The showrunner and screenwriter was Malcolm Spellman , who previously wrote several episodes of Empire . He is supported by Derek Kolstad , the screenwriter of the John Wick trilogy . Unlike previous series in the MCU, the series should be produced directly by Marvel Studios under the direction of Kevin Feige and have a larger budget available for this. If it had been up to Stan, you could even have made your own movie with both characters, which could have turned out like a buddy comedy from the 1980s or 1990s. According to Mackie, the series should ultimately not feel like a typical two-hour superhero film, but rather offer more space for the profound development of the main characters due to the total of six hours of running time.
At a Disney event in April 2019, the official title "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" and the rough release date in the first year of the platform were finally published. This information was later specified for August 2020. The aim is Kari Scandia stage all six episodes of the series. Filming began on October 31, 2019 under the working title Tag Team at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta . The following month, recordings were made in Barnesville , Georgia , among others . The film was shot on the grounds of Fulton County Airport in Fulton County on December 5 and in downtown Griffin from December 15 to 17, 2019 . Originally planned in Puerto Rico , two-week shooting, which should start in mid-January 2020, was canceled due to an earthquake on the Caribbean island . Instead, the film was shot from January 4th to 6th, 2020 in Sweetwater Creek State Park near Douglasville , on the night of January 11th in the Krog Street Tunnel in Atlanta, on January 15th in the Lost Place Pullman Yard in Kirkwood, a district of Atlanta , and on January 24, 2020 in Griffin . The following month, recordings were made at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta from February 4 to 12 and in Newnan on February 14 . Although the main filming was completed that day, additional scenes were created at a courthouse in Decatur between February 25 and 27, 2020 . Filming in Prague that started on March 6, 2020 had to be stopped prematurely on March 10 due to the COVID-19 pandemic . Ray Chan acted as production designer , who had already taken on this role for Thor - The Dark Kingdom , Guardians of the Galaxy , Avengers: Age of Ultron , Doctor Strange , Avengers: Infinity War and the post-shoots for Avengers: Endgame .
