Kari Skogland (* in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian film and television director , film producer and screenwriter .

Career

Kari Skogland began her career directing commercials . In the early 1990s, she switched to television with MTV's Dead at 21 . Two years later she directed six episodes of the science fiction series Traders and her first feature film with the comedy Big Like Watermelons . For the comedy, which Skogland produced herself for the first time, she was able to win the Silver Award at the WorldFest in Houston . After directing work for Nikita and The Crow - The Series , the horror film Kinder des Zorns 6 - Isaac's Returns , the sixth part of the Kinder des Zorns film series, followed in 1999 . In contrast to its four previous films, the film is a direct continuation of the first part and shows the return of John Franklin as the murderous Isaac .

The thriller Zebra Lounge (2001) and Liberty Stands Still (2002) and the 2003 loosely on the novel series flow world of Philip José Farmer -based failed Sci-Fi Channel - pilot Riverworld - world without end they extended their genre spectrum. From 2008 Skogland's work shifted back to television, where she almost exclusively directed episodes from various television series in the following years . These include The Listener - Hellhörig , Boardwalk Empire , Die Borgias , Under the Dome , Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Vikings .

Kari Skogland is married to film editor Jim Munro and has two daughters with him. The two had met around 1979 while working on commercials and later continued this collaboration on a few films, most recently in 2008 with 50 Dead Men Walking .
