Zebra Lounge (alternative title: Zebra Lounge - Forbidden Games ) is a Canadian thriller from 2001 . Directed by Kari Skogland , the screenplay was written by Claire Montgomery and Monte Montgomery .
action
Wendy and Alan Barnet are happily married with two children. You want to gain new sexual experience and place a personal ad in a swingers magazine . This is how they get to know the Bauer couple. Wendy has sex with Jack Bauer while Louise Bauer seduces Alan.
After the meeting, the barnets don't want any more; the farmers appear without invitation at the birthday party of the son of the Barnets. Jack helps Alan - who is hoping to be promoted to vice president of the company - acquire an important client. The Barnets agree to a second meeting. They are offered ecstasy pills; Louise takes a pill and passes it to Wendy while she is kissing her tongue . Both women have lesbian sex. The barnets then continue to insist on ending the relationship.
Alan learns that it is not he but one of his colleagues who is being promoted. After he and the colleague complete a customer appointment, Louise stops Alan in the elevator to the underground car park with sex. Meanwhile, Jack murders Alan's competitor in the underground car park with a jack that he previously stole from Alan's garage. Alan is promoted while the police investigate.
The Bauers move into a neighboring house and blackmail the Barnets. The aficionados arrange a meeting in a remote house, during which Alan wants to kill the farmers. He aims a pistol at Jack but doesn't pull the trigger. On the way back there is a car accident in which Jack and Louise are seriously injured. You stay wedged in the car while the barnets exit. Alan lights the leaking gasoline and the car explodes.
Reviews
Ryan Cracknell criticized in the Apollo Movie Guide that the film did not show the psychological background of the Bauer couple. The counter-actions of the Barnets are "trivial" and do not create any dramaturgical tension. In some places the film is "hot" and "sexy" , which - as Cracknell suspected - should serve the distribution. However, since the motives of both couples are not shown, watching is a loss of time.
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "an erotic thriller with the mendacious moral message that adultery and affairs are by no means worthwhile" .
The magazine TV Spielfilm 4/2008 described the film as "banal" .
backgrounds
The film was shot in Toronto . It was produced for television, but in Finland and Argentina it was first released on DVD and video, respectively.
