Emily Irene VanCamp (born May 12, 1986 in Port Perry , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress .

Life

Emily VanCamp was born in Port Perry, Canada and grew up with three siblings. In addition to her native French , she is fluent in English and Spanish . At the age of twelve, she attended the L'Ecole Superieure de Danse de Quebec dance school in Montréal , then switched to the ballet group Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal . After visiting her sister Katie while filming the movie Ladies Room in 1999, she also wanted to become an actress.

VanCamp currently lives in Los Angeles . She has been in a relationship with her series partner in Revenge , Josh Bowman , since 2011 and engaged to him since May 2017. The couple married on December 15, 2018.

Career

She initially played small roles in television series and films such as No Good Deed with Samuel L. Jackson and Milla Jovovich . In 2002 Emily VanCamp starred in a supporting role in the mystery series Glory Days . The producer Greg Berlanti , who is responsible for the youth series Dawson’s Creek among other things , noticed the young actress and used her in his new series Everwood . In it, VanCamp played the role of high school student Amy Abbott, alongside Treat Williams and Gregory Smith, from 2002 until the series ended in 2006 . With this role she gained national and international fame.

This was followed by other roles in films such as Carriers and Black Irish, as well as a brief appearance in the horror film The Ring 2 . Her discoverer Greg Berlanti gave the actress a role in his next series. From 2006 to 2011, she stood in front of the camera alongside Sally Field and Dave Annable for the drama series Brothers & Sisters . In July 2010, VanCamp's exit was announced towards the beginning of the fifth season. In the same year VanCamp shot the television two-parter Ben Hur , in which she played the fiancée of the title character. She also appeared in the comedy Norman and was in New Mexico for the film Beyond the Blackboard . From 2011 to 2015 she played the lead female role as Emily Thorne in the television series Revenge .

In 2014, she played the role of Sharon Carter aka Agent 13 in The Return of the First Avenger . She also played this in 2016 in The First Avenger: Civil War .

VanCamp's German voice actress is Magdalena Turba .

Awards

For her performance in the Everwood series , VanCamp was nominated for Best Television Actress in a Drama Series for a Teen Choice Award in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 and was nominated for a Young Artist Award once . In October 2010, she was named Best Actress at the San Diego Film Festival for her leading role in Norman .
