Sebastian Stan (born August 13, 1982 in Constanța , Romania ) is a Romanian -American actor .

Life

At the age of eight he moved to Vienna with his mother and stepfather . At the age of twelve he moved with them to the United States. After studying at Rutgers University , he began appearing in independent films . He played a small supporting role in the Oscar-nominated film Rachel's Wedding . He also played the role of Chase Collins in The Pact . In 2009 Stan starred in the television series Kings . In 2010 he played the leading role in the film The Apparition alongside Ashley Greene and Tom Felton , the film only opened in theaters in 2012.

In 2011, he took on the role of James Buchanan Barnes / Winter Soldier in the Marvel comic book adaptation Captain America: The First Avenger . He also took on the same role in the sequels The Return of the First Avenger (2014) and The First Avenger: Civil War (2016) as well as in the MCU films Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). 2018 he played one of the four lead roles in We Have Always Lived in the Castle , a film adaptation of the novel by Shirley Jackson in 1962, in Germany under the title We have always lived in the castle was released.

Since his appearance in the television series Gossip Girl in the role of Carter Baizen , the actor was in a relationship with the leading actress Leighton Meester until April 2010 . From summer 2012 to July 2013 he was in a relationship with Jennifer Morrison , whom he met on the set of the television series Once Upon a Time .
